LonePirate
Box Office Pro is predicting $6.6M for TGM this weekend. If it hits that, it will be knocking on the door to $700M and will likely pass it on Tuesday the 6th or Wednesday the 7th. Solid holds for the rest of the week and/or an increase in that weekend gross would push it to $700M on Labor Day. I think that weekend prediction is a bit high but holiday weekends have been very kind to TGM so who knows.

Aren't tickets $3 this weekend? i think that 6.6 is overpredicted
parkerthegreat
Is Top Gun still in any premium format? I would assume that would help isolate it from the $3 tickets taking a huge effect. $700m on Labor Day will take a miraculous hold but is still possible. The $3 ticket deal includes all premium formats in participating theaters, though it is only one day out of the weekend. But a lot of people who want to see it in IMAX probably would go on Saturday if they can. Edited August 31, 2022 by BoxOfficeFangrl

The Dark Alfred
Another terrific Tuesday gross for TGM on its cruise to 700m. TITANIC had a monster Tuesday the day after the annual Oscar ceremony. CROCODILE DUNDEE figures are only estimates, but the Christmas week keeps it #2. MAVERICK comfortably ahead of E.T and nearly doubled AVATAR's 96th day, Staggering. It will hit 700m within a week. Biggest domestic 14th Tuesday: 1. Titanic $1,605,435 3,169 $506 $497,178,479 Mar 24 2. Crocodile Dundee $879,275 1,423 $644 $116,147,225 Dec 28 3. Top Gun: Maverick $691,915 2,962 $234 $692,369,879 Aug 30 4. E. T. $440,156 1,485 $296 $245,540,212 Sep 14 5. Avatar $360,899 1,236 $291 $737,627,370 Mar 23 Edited September 1, 2022 by The Dark Alfred
Jiffy
So this weekend TGM will be first film to remain in the Top 10 from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend since the first Top Gun back in 1986. The only other film to do it since 1982 was Return of the Jedi. Sister Act came close (debuting in May and spending same number of weeks in the Top 10 so far), but its opening weekend was technically the one after Memorial Day. One more for the collection of TGM. In these days i was thinking about the record of weeks in top 10. It´s a pity that BOM has erased this from its website, but i remember number 1 was ET with 44 weeks and number 2 Titanic with 26. It seems that TGM will enter also in the top 10 all time of this list, when it will finish its record i´ll try to find what is its final position, cause is another very interesting data. And also, another amazing feat will be if this weekend goes to number 1 in its 15th weekend, probably will be the first film to do it at least in the last 30 years, correct me if i´m wrong, please. CaptNathanBrittles
STAR WARS, JAWS, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and possibly THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK would undoubtedly be in that list if they had complete records. STAR WARS was possibly in in the top ten for 50+ weeks. BOM only tracks up to RAIDERS' 22 weekend, when it was still #6 in the charts. Hard to imagine it fell completely off after that.

Even more amazing: TGM was not just top 10, but was Top 5 for all but one of those weeks (Aug 5th), and top 4 for all but 3 weeks (7/22, 7/29, 8/05) of the 15 summer weekends (including upcoming weekend), never falling below 6th For comparison purposes, Avatar was top 5 for 12 consecutive weeks, before dropping to 7th, 8th and 11th in weeks 13-15, and NWH had 13 straight T5s before falling to 6-9 range for the next 4 weeks … and TGM has a few more T5/T10s left to add to the total
