Looking at @katnisscinnaplexupdates, and I find myself puzzled by how different the pre-sales are. The GTHA corridor is a 7 million population, and has such small sales. The updates from those US sites aren't massive, but, on a per capita basis or per theatre basis, they're miles ahead.

Between the two of us, we're only doing limited theatre tracking in Canada, due to limitations on Cineplex, but I wonder if we had better data, how sales would track differently in general?

Our comps are obviously only compared to data from the same theatres generally, but if there was a way to do detailed tracking on the Canadian markets, are discrepancies like this that common.

If Barbie critic reviews aren’t good will that likely affect first week sales or second week sales since pre-sales are so good or will it likely do like Mario Bros and have no affect on sales at all?

Previews will be strong regardless. The IM would probably take a hit and legs would be weaker (since it isn't an animation which tends to be critics proof)

I doubt anything can stop Barbie OW at this point, social media already decided they will love it.

If it goes rotten, people will just accuse critics of being wrong or something and watch it anyway. Legs is another story, but OW it won’t matter

Still, no reason to expect bad reviews. Embargo lifts on July 9 actually, so expect some bump on sales the next day.
