China PS has started and T-7 in under IO2 and way below last movie. Minions 2 actually had very short PS cycle and so no comps. But these movies tend to better with walkups considering Minions 2's PS to OD BO.

Note that around 52 sites were impacted this weekend by Hurricane Beryl. The 4-day $12.6M opening is in line with Minions, DM3 and above MTROG and DM2. Wide holidays begin on July 12.

It is opening in a lot of markets, so it will increase over last week. Should go over $100m for the weekend I think. IO2 opens in the Netherlands but expect a decent drop this weekend.

I’m wondering why Universal hasn’t updated the weekday numbers for international yet. It makes predicting this very hard lol. It should be at least above 500m by the end of the weekend right? With weekday international and domestic and international weekend

The Despicable Me/Minions franchise became the first to cross the $5B mark (to $5.025B through Friday) at the worldwide box office. This makes it the first animated franchise ever to reach the milestone. It was already the biggest animated franchise of all time wordwide.

It would need to make $650m+ OS to make $1b.

 

DM3 grossed $250m between China, Russia, and Japan. DM4 will probably make $80m in those 3.
