I keep forgetting this is happening ngl

Β

Not a bad thing, at least until it actually happens.

Β

I'd love it if it does end up complete nothingburger with the result I want, but can't blame people for being nervous

I think everyone's anxious about the election this year

Yeah there is a reason the studios are leaving the weekend of Nov 8th, which is a 4 day weekend because of veterans day on Monday, open. That would be a prime moviegoing weekend. Paramount could move Gladiator 2 there. Sony could have left Venom 3 there. It's sad things are the way they are but the election aftermath is going to be turbulent no matter what the results are.

RIP Twisters, it was nice knowing you.

Funny but jokes aside, Twisters is so far doing ok-decent judging from most reports in the tracking thread. IMO it's really too early to know which way it goes, e.g. it doesn't even have shows in some of the theaters in Texas.Β Β

Β

Overall, the flyover/heartland states seem to be at least not unimportant this year. I started to pay a little bit more attention WHERE a film does well presales-wise or if it's e.g. only a film for the coasts. If I remember right, GxK, Inside Out 2, Kung Fu Panda and IF had fine presales everywhere and Planet of the Apes had at least solid ones. Whereas The Fall Guy always was a coast thing with by far best sales in California. Furiosa finally had under 100 sold tickets in "my" 3 AMCs between the coasts, Inside Out 2 had ~ 650 sold tickets/10x.Β

The Quiet Place: Day One so far has also solid/good sales everywhere, let's see...

Labeling TOY STORY IV as F tier is a crime.

But in all seriousness, it's still only 2 pm on the east coast. Let's not get ourselves dissapointed if it "only" does $135m

Yeah, bye the way, considering that Toy Story is like the main Pixar franchise, Nemo was bigger at the time (tickets sold) and their box office in 2023...I think Disney is very happy with how the picture is looking.Β
