bloodandhoney
I think the midnight number is amazing for this. Can't wait to see it tonight!!!
Biggestgeekever
I checked manhattan nyc: there are not that many sellouts, almost all of them for evening, almost all of them for 2D. That is simply not true. You have to click on AMC showings to see if they're sold out.
code65536
Don't most people buy that shit in advance so it doesn't sell out before they get there?Let's say you show up at a large megaplex. All 12:01 showtimes are sold out. But they can (and do) add a 12:30 showtime once they clear out a room from another movie that just finished playing. So worst case scenario, you just wait an extra half hour while the theatre adds capacity on the spot.
spizzer
No reports yet. I'd even take a hefty location average from Nikki right now
code65536
-Enormous 3D shareI can believe that. Esp. since people who go to midnights are not going to be nearly as budget-conscious as people who casually stroll in on Sunday afternoon. The theatre closest to me had as many 3D showtimes as 2D. MovieMan89
Midnight number is excellent for it, especially considering this is May, when midnight are always on the light side. $160m is basically the bare minimum for the weekend now.
spizzer
What's incredible is that it's more than double the next highest Avenger film, IM2 wiith $7.5M
Founder / Operator Shawn Robbins Posted May 4, 2012 Founder / Operator Share Posted May 4, 2012 That's another way to look at it: this is the largest May midnight number in history, and second-largest in terms of attendance (behind Sith).
DAR
I'm more astounded that this could beat what Thor and Cap made in their entire runs.
Rovex
Thor deserved more, Capt deserved less, so half right.
MovieMan89
I'm more astounded that this could beat what Thor and Cap made in their entire runs.I actually think it has a slight shot at beating all the non IM Avenger movies combined by the time it's done(Thor, CA, and TIH). Say it opens to $175m this weekend. It would need a 2.8 multi to do it. Edited May 4, 2012 by MovieMan89

rockNrollaDIM
Seems reasonable to me. $45m FRI. Maybe a tad low.
junkshop36
Between 65-67 for Friday according to Nikki's early sources. Which translated means 62-64m.
rockNrollaDIM
I think in this case she may actually be lowballing.
Kvikk Lunsj
Nikki says 67M Friday???LinkThat way too low she is low balling it for sure.
Accursed Arachnid!™
When you consider 3D, that's less admissions than IM2 on Friday proper. That can't be right.EDIT: And, yes, that's using the 15% 3D rule.
Eldenfirefly
TA is off to a great start with this midnight number. But I won't post any conclusions for it until at least the OD number comes out. go TA! (BTW, this thread was crazy, I wake up from sleeping and there's a 23 page thread on midnights to read through) lol
