JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

Maleficent...What does this mean?Is that good or increased?Bad hold? :(

It means TOHO number is around 16000..not bad ....

The Frozen number at the same period was 19921

As a live-action movie in Japan, Maleficent is good enough..

Frozen MovieNex(Blu-ray 3D+Blu-ray+DVD+Digital Copy) has reached 1.15M pre-orders.

Wow that's about 4.6B yen ($45M)

Could break the North America record of 3.2 million discs (bluray+dvd) sold in  day one?

If they do this then the earlier release may prove profitable for Disney (assuming that selling the MovieNex when Frozen is at its peak will increase its sales)

Disney was right to do that, they know what is good for them unlike posters here who got angry :P

I think everyone here knew that the sales would be huge. People were angry because the sales would still be huge even if Disney delayed the release date, so why sacrifice the box office potential ?

I don't think so. In Japanese history, only one film sold more than 3 m : Spirited Away (around 4 m)

And the promotion for Frozen Japanese Movienex is not strong enough now .

The one who dubbed Elsa has not perform in public so far....

It is said that she is likely to show up after 7/16.....

At the risk of sparking another heated debated I agree with this 100% :) the potential marketing effect of having a WDAS at the top of the tree for future releases is something that can't be easily quantified.

Frozen will make 20 million admissions.  It'll have to outright collapse Avatar-style over the July 19-20 weekend.  Avatar was below 10 million admissions (~9.8m) when it had its -82% plummet, and still made it to the 10 million admissions mark when the yearly results were released at the end of the year.
