JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

The thing about PR is that most who went to see it liked it but more GA just dont see it at all.

PR got A- cinemascore, WWZ got B+, but WWZ got better legs than PR in NA.

There is a lot more to legs than just WOM.

The Wind Rises actually appeared stronger yesterday than last Saturday and should defend it's #1 position again. It was still selling out some 500-800 seat showings. If it holds well enough, or even increases (doesn't look impossible), it's 4th weekend will be over ¥500 million.Films with 4th Weekends Above ¥500 million (Since 2004):

¥953 million - Howl's Moving Castle¥755 million - Ponyo¥733 million - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban¥683 million - Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End¥658 million - Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides¥618 million - Rookies¥617 million - Toy Story 3¥556 million - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire¥544 million - Umizaru: The Last Message¥524 million - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King¥522 million - Alice in Wonderland¥521 million - Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World¥518 million - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest¥510 million - Avatar¥501 million - The Da Vinci Code

As for the openers, World War Z was doing really well and will have no problem beating the openings of Pacific Rim andBoy H. Whether or not World War Z debuts in 2nd place depends on how well Monsters University performed in it's sixth-weekend, and it played really well yesterday, too.And overall, everything was doing well yesterday, and Sunday looks even better with many showtimes already half-full or better for several films, and it's only 2:30am.

I don't know how accurate that number is for WWZ, but there is no way 3.5M is enough for number 1.

Depp is still a draw in Japan.

I will forgive them given the huge success of Monsters University there :D

I hope Thor 2 can breakthrough in this country, after all IM3 benefited from the Avengers' effect :D
