Impact
Musicals don't win screenplay is the thing.Even West Side story-won 10 out of 11 of its nominations. What did it lose? Screenplay.
riczhang
Musicals don't win screenplay is the thing.Well this movie could break the record for most noms in the most categories, so it's not out of the question, and also it's the entire academy that votes, so if Les Mis really sweeps, then I can totally see Academy members going, "Well, I'm voting for Les Mis in a lot of categories, and it's got a boatload of noms I might as well just throw Screenplay in there." It's kind of like how Hugo won 5 awards in the techs last year. But, with that being said, I'm not predicting it for a win, I'm thinking:1. Argo2. Les Mis3. SLP (It's too light, and not what I think the Academy loves enough for it to translate to wins anywhere except weakass Actress, and even there I'm thinking she probably will end up getting upsetted.)4. Lincoln5. Anna Karenina (Having read the screenplay, and seen the movie, I can totally seeing this get in, it's really a prestige pic) Edited October 22, 2012 by riczhang
Jake Gittes
I guess Argo, SLP and Lincoln are pretty much locked here. With two spots left, I'd just like them to not nominate Les Mis at all and go with Killing Them Softly and The Perks of Being a Wallflower instead. In reality, though, I'll have to be very happy if even one of them makes it... and even then, it will need to upset Anna Karenina, Life of Pi or The Sessions for the fifth spot. Damn. RichWS
I'm sensing it comes down to Kushner for Lincoln and Terrio for Argo.
pieman
This is a very close 3 way race. Argo vs. Lincoln vs. Silver Linings Playbook. I would actually give the edge to Silver Linings Playbook because it is the kind of angsty realistic dramedy that always does well in the screenplay categories. JackO
Took out Beasts for Life of Pi since I think it will have BP/BD.

Noctis
I'm crossing my fingers for Perks. It's starting to get some traction.
riczhang
It's be nice for Perks to get some love but the reports of quite a few Academy members coming out of screenings telling others not to bother with the film is concerning to say the least. Noctis
Yup. Wallflower has a much better chance at getting nominated now.
Sims
Sorry Noctis but if I have to choose between Beasts and Perks for the fifth spot, I'm going with Beasts.
baumer
Perks and SLP should be number one two.

forg
Yes, Perks! I'm still not raising my expectations that high in case Oscars snubbed Perks! It happened to me with 500 Days of Summer but I'm really happy it got the WGA nod
