Rsyu
Thanks Rsyu. You own this thread When does H3 open and what can we expect? TH3 opens on the 17th (Wed). It won't be an event film like Interstellar or Frozen but if it's well received I can see it grossing $20-25 million. Competition for screens & showtimes will be really fierce though, as it's opening on the same day as Ode to my father and the documentary film My love don't cross that river is really hitting it's stride. On top of that, 2 big budget local films The con-artist and the royal tailor will open on the 24th. Wow, that is a impressive jump in presales for TH. 26.000 in just one day. It could open on Wednesday with over 150.000 presales. That's pretty good right? If it manages to reach 150,000 then yeah that's a great number. Right now (1:13pm) it's at 120,000. Hopefully it can open close to 200K admissions. Edited December 16, 2014 by Rsyu

TServo2049
So did Roaring Currents, Frozen and Interstellar save SK from having a slump year or something? Rsyu
So did Roaring Currents, Frozen and Interstellar save SK from having a slump year or something? I look at the drop in local film admissions and the spike in import film admissions and I get that impression. Roaring currents saved the box office for local films this year for sure. Usually there's quite a number of local films in the 5-7 million admissions range but numerous anticipated films such as The fatal encounter, Kundo and Sea Fog doing really poor business means that there were no films filling that gap this year. Interstellar and Frozen over-performing wasn't as important though. Shockingly enough, even if both those movies each did only half their total tally, the annual admissions for foreign films would still be the highest of all time. All those "solid-without-being really huge-hits" like CA2, DotPotA, EoT, DoFP, TF4,and TASM2 were just as fundamental in this years box office. Rsyu
Good enough opening for The battle of the five armies and Ode to my father. I think both of them stopped the other from opening as big as they could have. Despite the large difference in presales, daily admissions were roughly the same. Either the majority of the walk-up business is going to Ode to my father, or most of the pre-bought tickets for Battle of the five armies is concentrated during the weekend. Hopefully the latter proves to be the case! Their first real competition comes next week in the form of 2 big budget local films. There's a chance that one or both of them even could fall away very early. That daily admissions drop looks pretty grim for Interstellar but it was to be expected (it's in its 7th week!). Possible projections: Another 20K on Thursday, 28K on Friday and 70-80K for Sat-Sun. Interstellar could/should be at 9.92-9.93 million (give or take 10K) admissions by the end of the week. Next week Mon-Tue should add 30-35K. The Con artist and The Royal Tailor opening on the 24th will send daily admissions below 10K (Somewhere around 7-9K). 10M admissions should happen sometime during next weekend. Frozen's record is safe.
