Begin Again for example made crazy money here. La La Land isn't slowing down either. Now You See Me 2 outgrossed Finding Dory because of Good Will from the first. Guardians of the Galaxy got annihilated here when it tried to open against a local juggernaut, Star Wars would have been the same. About 4-6 times a year, a local film is released that you have to treat in the same Way USA treats May Marvel releases where nothing will survive against them.

Since the current release date means it does not really have any holidays to enjoy, other than monday. I think we posted at the same time I added the top 10 of 2016 to show about why I think local films are, at least this year, very strong in SK, and why it would not have been a good idea to let S R1 start with another local new film. I think those local films get a lot of press locally (BO)..., GotG then got so drowned out beside being an MCU film, what it made in comparison was really bad beside it having great WOM. With the 'few' people that saw it. This year only 2 non-local films made it into the admission top 10, both are MCU films, only to point out, why I think GotG result is so... poor. MCU seems to be big, SW not as established. Like in 2015 SW 7 had 3.272.884 admissions acc Insidekino.de 2,803,256 of those in 2015 acc. KOBIZ SW 7 was on #23 of 2015 acc KOBIZ, but they seem to have the Year-to-date method = might be a bit higher on a chart used like at BOM.. = the 'released in ...' charts, that adds the next years income too (BOM has two charts, but the 2015 or 2016... is released in) In 2016 an admission count of 3.272.884 would mean #19 on the 2016 year's list. In the most OS markets SW R1 got OW's... let's say something between 30% and 50% of what SW 7 made (rounding for more simple) = if SW R1 drops in SK also between 505 and 70%... Why listing all this: I think SW R1 is nothing big in SK and as such would really have drowned if getting released together with a big local film. A local film, that made within 11 days enough to be placed #13 of 2016 with 4,552,905 admissions, a count SW 7 didn't got near to in 2015 calendar (2,803,256) In 2015 it started together with - again - a local blockbuster. It's less the single or two holidays missing in my POV, it's the getting drowned / missing awareness too As an comparison, OW at 18.12.2015 - 20.12.2015 Quote 1 1.110.410 --- 1.007 1.103 1.531.247 1 The Himalayas 2 901.879 --- 940 959 1.071.696 1 Star Wars VII SW R1 has at least a total of 592,154 till during Saturday, Saturday count might increase a little bit (not sure, as I guess they close the cinemas too for late screenings), still has Sunday for the opening. It had one inflated day based on a local holiday, Sunday might get a jump up over the Saturday count of 200k something = I still think it is looking like they knew what they were doing for choosing the date = see the OS drop rate already being better at Saturday. It's difficult to describe feelings about a situation instead of hard numbers, I hope my formulations were clear enough?
