Looks like about 145-150 today, matching IW day 2. NWH ended 740 so without taking covid into account at all you’d expect DS2 to head for about 600k perhaps, but this start seems to bode for a finish near or even over NWH — good tentative sign of market recovery if so

It running at a pace of 150-151k by midnight. Meaning adding 50k  (same as IW). If tomorrow is another 45k 600k will be a done deal.

I would guess:

D-12 150.5k

D-11 190k

D-10  225k

D-09  260k

D-08  290k

D-07  320k (This is where NWH started with 129k)

D-06  350K

D-05  385K

D-04  425K

D-03  465K

D-02  505K

D-01  550K

D-00  740K (NWH had 742k)

That said it depens on what rate it will settle the comming day, if it settles at 35k or 40k than 800k is 100% reachable.

Doesn’t matter much, but D-12 was yesterday and today is d-11. Imbruglia had it right, I was off by one because of you silly internationals writing the month where the day should go 😅

So to have some measure of what the impact was of the restrictions on NWH I took a look at the weekend from NWH (sat and sun) and compared them to those Sat / Sun of EG and CM. The way I did it was taking the hourly rate (for example if it's 10.20 meaning the increase from 9.20 to 10.20) and I divided this by the highest rate from that day. Meaning it's relative to the day performance. You could see it as distribution of the walkups during the day.

As we can see below the highest run rates were achieved at 14.20 ( run rate from 13.20 - 14.20) only normal sat have the same run rate at 15.20. Obviously NWH % drop hard once the evening hit because of the restriction, but I also noticed another effect, the morning seemed to be less good because of the restriction. Meaning people probably didn't buy tickets for the evening as there were no evening sessions. In the bottom we have the total % of run rate, you can see this as X times the highest run rate.  For NWH this was roughly 6.9x on both sun and sat whilst normally it is 10.9x and 9x respectively. Lastly also note that NWH walkups were quite bad, probably also due to restrictions.

If I have more time I will check for weekdays as wel. This atleast shows that 30-45% has been missed on pure run rate multi. (Not inclueding possible weaker walkups).

DS2 pre sale D-11 - 150,741

btw, the film will open after 10 AM per Disney's request.

also seat restriction will be over on 4/25 and 5/02(CGV), this is helping DS2's pre sale as early pre sales are driven by premium screens.

I think it should be possible to beat NWH’s 60M with this start, but market conditions are pretty much untested for a big blockbuster. It would need to be performing nearly at 100% for that, which may be unrealistic, hard to know until we know.
