Seems like OW probably will be

188

141

225

475

430

11-12m OW

I probably overestimate SK with how fantastic this performs in other east asian markets. Lets see if it can legs to above 40m. Big competition coming too.

Probably other good news is presale isnt dropping more than 10% after OD. Hopefully more backloaded WE than other movie.

You can still think it makes $60m+,the Naver score is 2nd best of all time

OW is not important with this such a great WOM

Why does asia seem to adore Green Book?

It was very good, but it really wasnt anything "we" hadnt seen before

First of all, it's a comedy that people outside USA could get and enjoy. I saw the movie in HK in 2019 and suggested someone should take or invest the movie because it definitely would make Chinese audience laugh so hard, even if it don't have Oscar. People could sense two persons with totally different characters in the same journey would bring unexpected surprises. Local blockbuster Lost in Thailand is the case.

Secondly, it's a movie telling a story about a relationship that excels classes. The filmmaker may not care about the theme, but for China and maybe most countries in Asia, it somehow shows something ideal and pure. Audience enjoy to see how people from different class become friends/lovers or get any relationship. It's something you can hardly find in reality. The french movie The Intouchables is something similar - comedy with touching relations. For us, it's more powerful than what Hollywood blockbusters these days do while they believe they do really great in terms of emphasizing equality / diversity / representativeness.

CGV yesterday 22/06: 46k PS, finished with 87k => 188 344 total CGV ratio 46.2% meaning 41k in walkups.

Today: 28k PS (down 39%), finishing 67-68k today => CGV ratio probably 47% so I guess 142.55k today. Big thing here is it either did 39k or 40k in walk ups basicly flat from OD, meaning were in for a very healty Friday bump.

Today is looking like +37% (again same as Roundup), might get a bit higher with a good evening. Atm 200k is likely.

Great sign that Friday is over OD!

Total PS are increasing on a steady pace, boding well for a good weekend. Like Jatinder said next weeks drop (or maybe increase?) is more important than this OW. Next thursday vs this thursday will be a big tell.

Evening is going quite strong, better than early estimates. We are looking at 210k today a 43.7% increase even better than JWD friday increase. (that movie increased 150%+ on saturday, a very weekend heavy franch)
