JCS
Good start. But it is opening that has doubled. Final gross won't double. True, still thinking around $400M OS which is a very healthy increase.
John Marston
the only major markets left are Italy, Japan, and France. Should have a decent increase in Italy but Japan won't support the movie at all.
babz06
Italy and France are going to have a big increases, those fans were very excited. I think they did a better job promoting in Europe than any other market. Edited November 23, 2013 by babz06
iceroll
They should have had some premieres in China and Brazil.
peludo
So what does that translate to for OW in dollars? 200,000 admissions would be, more or less, 2 million $ OD. OW? Maybe 6-7 million $? The first movie opened to 4 million $.
A Marvel Fanboy
So 155M OS total by Sunday, another 155m from DOM. You can write Japan off for these kind of movies, just like writing it off for DWA/Bluesky animations.
zackzack
They should have had some premieres in China and Brazil. Brazil. yes. China, maybe not. Chinese audience sees this as another action movie with a girl as the heroine
The Toymaker
They should have had some premieres in China and Brazil. None of the cast give a shit about China. None of them would fly here. So it'd be a rubbish premiere. Plus, I can't see anybody being excited for a premiere of THG. If it was Transformers: Age of Extinction, then I'd agree with you that a premiere would be awesome. It would be potentially the most lucrative for box office. China premieres are rare so it would help the film stand out a lot and gross more. The Toymaker
The same could be said for any film. But to have a premiere, there at least needs to be some popularity for the content. I imagine only Chinese pictures or co-productions would get premieres.
Olive
300M WW opening and 2.8x, that is 840M >BD2's 829M
John Marston
right now I can't see it passing BD2. 350 domestic plus 450 overseas - 800 worldwide
keysersoze123
I think if it hits high 150's it should make 375M and another 475M OS for 850M WW. Anyway CF >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any twilight movie and so hopefully it does beat it.

keysersoze123
475m OS is too high, requiring 3.1x legs it has few new markets to open as well. So it does not require 3.1x legs. Switzerland 27 November 2013 (French speaking region) France 27 November 2013 Greece 27 November 2013 Italy 27 November 2013 Cambodia 28 November 2013 Macedonia 28 November 2013 Portugal 28 November 2013 India 29 November 2013 Israel 20 December 2013 (Midnight Movie) Japan 27 December 2013

keysersoze123
Also dont forget its playing strongly in markets which have much better legs than asia. So 3x aint big deal for big european or LA markets. France + Swizz + italy and few smaller markets can contribute $50m.Since this is YA movie even portugal wont bomb. Anyway let us wait for weekend numbers before extrapolating the OS total.
