Every time we get one of those reports, it actually confirms the movie will open with less than the ones it is actually outpacing in pre-sales

F4 had bad buzz leading to that film and.....then it plummeted like hell with atrocious WOM....and for people that saw MI5, several times and loving the hell outta that movie....didn't help F4 any further.

Remember when F4 was outpacing Rogue Nation?

That's not true...

LOS ANGELES - August 6, 2015 - According to Fandango, the nation's leading digital destination for moviegoers and fans with more than 36 million unique visitors per month*, "Fantastic Four" leads new releases at the top of Fandango's weekend ticket sales and the company's Fanticipation movie buzz indicator, scoring 84 out of 100 points. "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" follows close behind in its second week, with a score of 81, and "The Gift," "Ricki and the Flash," and "Shaun the Sheep Movie," scored 69, 66 and 63 points out of 100, respectively.

Kung Fu Panda 3 Jan 29, 2016 Fox / DreamWorks Animation $51,000,000 $51,000,000

PROS:

- Fandango is reporting today that Kung Fu Panda 3 is "outpacing DreamWorks Animation's previous hits, Home and Kung Fu Panda 2 at the same point in the Fandango sales cycle."

- Early reviews for Kung Fu Panda 3 are strong. The film currently boasts an 89 percent Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes.

- While it fell off significantly from its predecessor, 2011's Kung Fu Panda 2 still finished its domestic run with $165.2 million and was well received by audiences and critics alike.

- The film's late January release date is very similar to the early February release dates of 2014's The Lego Movie and last year's The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, both of which greatly exceeded expectations.

- As mentioned, Kung Fu Panda 3 will have the family marketplace pretty much to itself this weekend. Family audiences on the East Coast may also be especially in the mood for the film this weekend after being snowed in last weekend.

CONS:

- While Kung Fu Panda 3 has performed well in general on Twitter, it has been displaying some relative slowing in the days leading up to its release. That is a bit concerning, especially given that the film's expected overseas strength could be inflating online activity in general as well.

- It's possible that the lack of family films on the February release slate could lead to opening weekend demand for the film being lowered a bit, as family audiences will have plenty of time to catch the film at a later point.

It's always good to inform ourselves with facts.

F4 just had a string of bad lucks. C'mon seriously there are far worse movies than F4 and those made more than F4.

F4 is no worse than GI Joe Retaliation, Ghost Rider, 300 Rise of Empire, and countless other atrocities.

KFP3 will clean up in China, smart to release 1 week before Chinese New Year.

Dreamwork's execs know Chinese audience will probably choose their homegrown

titles (Monkey King 2) over foreign ones. But maybe KFP3 is the better entertainment

and probably could nicely challenge Monkey King 2 for box office dominance.

If that is the case, Dreamworks probably stay out of the New Year slot out of respect.

Don't know if you've seen the reported numbers in the China thread, but it might not cross 200M
