SchumacherFTW
Every digital IMAX in the UK is getting it next thursday night, that's around 10/12 odeon's and 3 cineworld's.
CloneWars
THG opened to $10.2M on 268 screens. That's pretty good because I don't think they really had much of a chance to advertise it was showing in IMAX.
RichWS
I don't follow IMAX that closely, but I know that's huge.
CloneWars
I don't follow IMAX that closely, but I know that's huge. It's a big number, but not epic. A few films opened higher in IMAX. This was playing on 268 screens, so for it to open to $152M, I would actually say that a $10M IMAX opening is about average in this case. But, as mentioned, they also didn't do much to promote IMAX since I think the one-week engagement was sort of a last minute occurrence. SchumacherFTW
It's reasonably impressive because it was only in digital theatres, none of the massive, epic, 70mm theatres. According to BoG it's a new digital only record. So that's pretty impressive actually.

SchumacherFTW
I hope if the expand they'll build a couple of real IMAX's alongside the dozens of digitals. Digital's good, but nothing can beat the incredible sequences from TDK and MI4 when they're shown in true IMAX.
BK007
Does Brave not have IMAX? Or Snow White/GI Joe?The website has every other big opener from Avengers to The Dark Knight Rises. Also missing Ice Age 4 actually.
SchumacherFTW
Didn't know where to put this, so here seemed right. The BFI IMAX in London, the UK's flagship one, has announced today that they're going to be adding a digital IMAX projector to use alongside it's 70mm one at the end of the next month. Is this a signal that we are really about to lose true 70mm/15pf IMAX for good in the near future? http://www.bfi.org.uk/node/
Olive
Avengers The estimated $15.3 million the movie earned at 275 IMAX theaters set a new record for the format. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3438&p=.htm

They plan to keep 70mm projector as well. Excited to see the new silver screen.
SchumacherFTW
They're planning to keep the film projector until they can get the new laser projector in the next couple of years. I'm not sure I can imagine laser projection being as good.
