alee7915
Fucking eh. Take last weekend as an example, most of the cinemas only showed Transformers 4 and The Breakup Guru(local film) only. So the audience only have 2 choice. Edited July 1, 2014 by A K A

zackzack
Can Malf crawl to $45m? In China, animation, mythos Disney stuff rarely play well. Japan could be the big market for Maleficent Edited July 2, 2014 by zackzack
zackzack
Wow, this things is a vicious life sucking bitch from which there is no escape. 300 is going down. Let's target $250M first...

They have to do this as there's not enough screen especially for T4 during the weekend! Despite they pulled Maleficent and increased T4's screen numbers, there's still not enough screen for T4 during the weekend! Look at what THR have said "Tickets were sold out at cinemas across Beijing – when The Hollywood Reporter visited a local multiplex at lunchtime on Sunday, we told the first available seat would be at 10 p.m." http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/what-transformers-4s-huge-china-715668 Edited July 2, 2014 by A K A
A Marvel Fanboy
That's so weird. I just can't imagine going to a 12 or a 20 screens multiplex where they were only showing 2 movies. That's not exactly what is happening. Most theaters in China are medium ones with screens of 4~10. So if there are two blockbusters opening the same time, they likely will be the only movies left on screens. But if a theater has more screens than that, say 15, it certainly can keep more movies besides the two hot ones. Jackie Chan Beijing (WukeSong) has 17 screens, for example, so it was able to play 5 movies last weekend. Actually most 6~10 theaters were able to keep 3~5 movies. China needs to start building mega-multiplexes (around 20 screens). Currrently there is only one 19-hall theater in the whole country. Only a handful theaters have screens at or over 15. Problem is the price of real estate is so damn high that basically no one could afford mega-multiplexes. Even Wanda have to keep their theaters at 8~12 screens. Another way to solve (or can it ?) the frontloading and low per show attendance problem is providing different movies to different theater chains. But unless there are more than enough theaters, this wont work out. Maybe this could happen in five years, but not now.

baumer
Let's target $250M first...But where's the fun in that?
vc2002
$250m is locked at this point. $200-210m after this wknd, and there's still much room left untill Tiny Times III being released on 17th July. Then the $300m goal is up to whether it will get pulled off, or an extension.
Fake
I think if Friday remains over 100m, then $300m would be done before TT3 opens and there would be a chance for 2B yuan.
