All signs indicate BVS has troubled quality TBH... a guy who attended BVS screening at SARFT said the movie is not very good. The regulators were happy to give it a great day and date release (with holiday the following week) because they thought it doesnot have the ability to threaten the local releases for Qing Ming holiday.

All signs?One opinion...

So Tomorrow The Mermaid will pass 450M$ (Entgroup has 447,04M$ by today) entering in the top ten of the single-country biggest grosses ever. Obviously the first nine spots are all North-American.

1    Star Wars: TFA                  $922,010,468
2    Avatar                               $760,507,625
3    Titanic                               $658,672,302
5    Marvel's The Avengers        $623,357,910
6    The Dark Knight                 $534,858,444
7    Star Wars: Episode I           $474,544,677
8    Star Wars                          $460,998,007
9    Avengers: Age of Ultron      $459,005,868

.......

10  The Dark Knight Rises         $448,139,099

And if you only count initial runs, it'll be even higher. Will probably finish 7th.

But looks like Donnie Yen is playing the bad guy, I don't think the approvers love Chinese villains?

Yen is not the only Chinese person in the cast. Kris Wu is playing one of the good guys in the film. I daresay that at the moment, he's the bigger box office draw.

In my thought, Kris is just a small role. I don't think he would appears more than 5 minutes on screens. But I'm glad that XXX3 was cast globally (at least 4 Asian celebrities). It's quite better than watching the white guys all the ways.

I saw this shared around by his fans:

Doesn't really sound like a 5 minute role to me. Judging from the synopsis I found online, the movie will have an ensemble cast - a team of people working together (XXX's team) to fight against Donnie Yen's group. Then again, this is Hollywood and the final product might not reflect what they're teasing right now.

That still hasn't been proven, Ex-Korean Boy-band Chinese stars have ALOT of online fans, be it on weibo or tieba, but they are unable to carry a movie by themselves, look at Han Geng...
I haven't seen Kris Wu carry a film himself, so don't get in over your head yet. =/

Since 2008, action movies by Donnie Yen are at least 100m Yuan, and now in 2016 his movies are at least 200m Yuan, no matter how bad the script, WOM or marketing..no matter what the competition or how weak the overall month for Box Office.

I don't think Kris can bring in that time of box office at a consistent basis  yet.. We are talking about carrying a film singlehandedly, without a famous director or other cast members here.

I mean I like Kris Wu, he is not like the other teen pop idols because he works harder, has better acting, more dedicated but to say he is a bigger draw right now is just... LOL.
