Feng Xiaogang's behaviour apparently affected the movie's performance, many netizens are annoyed and claim that they won't watch the movie at cinemas.

 

Wanda's market share is around 15-16%, if you have a dispute with them, then good luck to you.

Probably not very wise to publicly call Wanda out like this, considering their hold in the industry, but Feng Xiaogang has always been bold.

Rumor says Wanda gave the order that most theaters of Wanda could play the film 3 times a day for most.

I've mentioned this before but the thing about Weibo is it's hard to know the actual majority opinion since it's filled with sock accounts, paid marketing blogs and fake bots. News in China is very easy to manipulate. Upvotes are bought, comments are faked.

 

Feng Xiaogang has every right to be angry. His film is objectively better than the awful films that get a lot of showtimes and it's not fair for a huge company like Wanda to retaliate like this. Wang Sicong (son of the owner of Wanda, awful guy with the most horrible reputation) replied by saying they have a right to be upset about Huayi poaching one of Wanda's executives but Wang Zhonglei (Huayi president) fired back by saying that Wanda poached a lot of their executives in the past and they weren't angry because it's part of business. Wang Jianlin, his son, the entire Wanda group get away with so many things because they are insanely rich and powerful.

 

Wanda can say they limited the showtimes because they weren't optimistic about the film but I don't buy it.

Bovary is going to bump small today, 10-15%

DS bump will be more than 100%, 30-32m, as its shows went from 11% yesterday to over 13% today

Assuming it takes a possible 85% hit next week, it will still edge out AM in dollars

So theater chains should be independent from film studio.I hope United States v. Paramount Picture, Inc will happen in China.

Great hold for DS. It dropped 43% of the showtimes yet PSA drop was only 53%. Saturday is looking around 32M.
