Most films multiple is worse than Last year.too many showtimes and more frontload

GotG2 doesn't have strong buzz.Buzz is weaker than Logan.Logan has weaker competition 2nd weekend.Dangal eats up most family audiences this week.Family usually choose Marvel on weekend.Dangal is stronger than Dog on weekdays.So GotG may miss 650M.

No offense,but my point stands. Chinese people gave Warcraft good reviews. It's not just them giving PR bad reviews. It the fact they love some of the worse movies. I mean does anyone think King Arthur is a 7.9 rated film? Look I'm not say PR a master pieces or good film,but it's was better then the Smurfs which they gave 8.6 rating too. PR flopped. I have say so countless threads. Still doesn't denied that China loves movies with the worse plots ever. Plus I read some of the reviews on Mayoyan for PR and Arthur. They claim they have no plot. Really,I guess TF was full of plot then. lmao Any ways,the next movie I'm rooting for is Masters of the Universe in 2019. Grew up on it in the 80s.

Dude, chinese didn't go through the plotless action movies of 80's, many animated movies, slasher and many other goneras which suck today.

They are enjoying these action films.

If american had something like maoyan, furious and tranformers will have high points, ofcourse lower than chinese 'cos they go through 100 years of cinema.

Chinese didn't have star wars, terminator of the worlds.

Also, these movies are easy to understand and pass through culture. 

And yeah, power rangers was crap.

after complaining people are attacking for saying PR is bombing, here momo started attacking the whole country for giving crappy ratings for that this POS deserves. I dont think douban rating for smurfs movie is 8.6. This year it got 6.5. Only TV season has a good rating and that is targeted towards certain demo which it satisfies. PR satisfies nothing. Transformers/warcraft had huge built in fan base and Bay at least has a style that has mass appeal. Warcraft crashed after 2 days and so did not have a good WOM.

 

PR will crash after OD. I am thinking King Arthur will overtake it soon as well. Dangal will gain back all the showtimes and will make a play for biggest non hollywood import of all time. Even Guardians slide might slow down as its going to be number 2 today.

On guardians, some great points made. I liked the relative WOM that @TigerPaw said. Since the chinese audience dont see lots of movies they pick the best available choice at the moment.

I wouldn't call it a frontload. That means people rushed to see it on the first day which is not the case. Toxic WoM will kill sales tomorrow causing a decline.

Only FF7 &8 and TF4 have made more than $250m. It's a reach but it could happen with holiday help. The OW frontloaded has been getting bigger though, it may open to $125m but not have 2x OW legs.

Dangal will be ahead Dog's 10 day total of 372m on Sunday and with a larger 2nd weekend bump.

Dog- 32/65/52m   372m 10 day

Dan- 45/90/65m   385m 

Next weekend is light. Dog faced some competition the following week and dropped 50%, Dan could hold -40% or better.

465m by Thursday.  For a 280m week

A 50% hold for the following week 140m, brings it to 605m when P5 opens. 690m/$100m has a good shot. I thought Dog could do it but that -50% 3rd weekend drop stopped it. This has a better chance with a larger 2nd weekend.
