No they just want it to cross the Billion milestone and maybe be the first animated film to do so. Too late for the later part atleast.

True I hadn't thought of that. But, yeah, Zootopia will be Panda to it

TR    PS at 28m. Just went steadily up, no last minute rush. SW7  did 2.7x PS which about the norm.  Looking at 75m OD +/-5m

ZOO   PS up 61%.  Minions had 70% bumps on friday. Looking for zoo to do at least 60%/120% for Friday/Saturday and may win the weekend 45m/98m/78m.  -38% hold for the weekend. Should -38% hold thru next Thursday it will have a 330m week with a total of 1.21B when BvS opens. 1.5b still possible depending on BvS impact and extension. It will need 3 weeks of 50% drops to get there starting with next friday.

GOE is going to be down 80%+

Panda looks like it's going to average over 1m per day over the next 7. Will have 1B by next friday.

From what I am reading, A LOT of Chinese films have been fudging, and that includes Mermaid. To a certain extend, but because they are backed by powerful distributors, no one exposes them. While Ip Man 3 was the sacrificial goat.

If there are irregular box office activities, you can definitely spot them.

According to the news articles, IP Man 3's box office was widely questioned and doubted because the level was so extreme.  And it has been reported everywhere, ranging from The Straits Times to Los Angeles Times.

I haven't heard anything like that said about Mermaid at all.  And if there were something like that to happen, it is easy to spot them, just look at its daily box office trends, compare its showtimes with box office percentage, last week vs. this week etc.
