Gavin Feng
39 minutes ago, charlie Jatinder said: @Gavin Feng any chance for Laal Singh release? Chinese studios incl E Stars Film right now are not very active in foreign movies especially non-english. Local movies become stronger than ever, complicated international situation increase the risks of doing foreign movies business, and most foreign studios suggest very harsh terms in deals. All these factors leave local studios no choice but doing local movies at first. 1

Issac Newton
The Battle At Lake Changjin Overseas Market: Malaysia : The local distributor of Chinese war film The Battle At Lake Changjin is contemplating submitting the film for reconsideration to the Malaysian Film Censorship Board (LPF) again after the first submission was rejected. In a statement, Mega Film Distribution expressed their regret that the film, which recorded 5.6 billion yuan (RM3.7 billion) at the box office in China, did not get the green light from LPF to be screened locally, Oriental Daily reported. The film was originally slated to be screened on November 18 in Malaysia. On claims that the movie promotes communism, Mega Film Distribution said it was made by those who did not watch the movie. “This is unfair on those who wants to watch it. “We believe the audience can use this film to trace how the Chinese volunteer army fought in the extreme cold and harsh environment. “ According to the New Straits Times, The Battle At Lake Changjin sparked an online debate after cinema chains reportedly uploaded the film teaser and poster on their social media accounts, announcing its upcoming screening, without disclosing the exact date for its release.

Issac Newton
China Eyes 100,000 Movie Screens and Closer Ties to Cannes: Six Takeaways From Country’s Five-Year Film Plan Releasing 50 films per year that gross at least $15.7 million Releasing at least 10 movies per year that are "critically acclaimed and popular" Local films accounting for more than 55% of total box office per year Having 100,000 theater screens by 2025, an increase from 77,000 currently Establishing a "national high-tech film research laboratory" "Promoting the overall improvement of the level of film special effects through the vigorous support of sci-fi films" Kokas predicted that fewer Hollywood films would be approved in China in the years to come, and those that are would face stricter regulations. China currently has a 34-film quota on foreign releases. "They don't need Hollywood to fill seats anymore," Fenton said. "'The Battle at Lake Changjin' can do that." If the Chinese government wants the country's own films to account for 55% of its annual box office, that shouldn't be too difficult moving forward. They made up 50% of the Chinese box office in 2016, 60% in 2018, and 85% in 2020, according to the research firm Ampere Analysis. A major part of the Chinese government's theater expansion plans, and its quest to improve its technological prowess, could be Imax, the film technology company that specializes in high-quality cameras and projection systems. CEO Richard Gelfond told Insider during a recent interview that the China market could support 1,300 Imax theaters. There are currently 750 in the region. moviestonks
with regards to that IMAX stat, it is pretty impressive how IMAX China has become a pretty Chinese company. Doesn't get much more integrated into the fabric of China than showing Korean war films in an expanded aspect ratio! Good for them from a business perspective - ought to continue to grow that Chinese network of screens if the government's plans play out Edited November 23, 2021 by moviestonks

Issac Newton
45 minutes ago, charlie Jatinder said: Another terrible article of China BO by Hollywood portal. Actually, this is a good decision as domestic films are slowing growing and more better film are arriving in next few years. I am not against any major Hollywood release in Mainland but sometimes such steps are necessary. For example: West Media are placing critics as "Chinese Propaganda" on recent historical film "The Battle At Lake Changjin" without even watching /before international release. I understand that major North American production will face problems but still it's a battle between "American Propaganda" &"Chinese Propaganda" (which need to be stop as soon as possible). In a recent article on The Independent, a editor asked "What exactly are Bond &MCU films if Chinese films are propaganda?" Problem starts with politics &now affecting non political topics. The only thing we can do is to stop fake reviews (like: 1 stars reviews at IMDb) &supporting articles that assume false reviews. More than that it's a bitter truth, but Mainland China Box Office actually does not need more Hollywood release to achieve new heights. (We already have 2 ¥5000M, 1 ¥4000M &a number of ¥1000M films this year).
keysersoze123
I am happy if local BO is thriving. Box office for Hollywood movies must be secondary. Thriving local business would ensure thriving economy with so many jobs created. Japan also was dominated by western movies in early noughties. Now local movies are dominating BO. India also is dominated by local movies. 2
