Yes! It's really appreciating that Disney (Marvel) is still sending print for review.

Despite of what's happening at present, whether it's a re-settle issue of Wuhan Variants or comments made back years back. I firmly believe in Dr. Strange power. I won't lose until it get release ~~

Why wouldn't they? It's the government that has a stick up their ass, not Marvel.

It's some time frustrating. I have seen several Japanese films mostly live action, dropping out plans when they keep failing to pass approval.

Spreading positive vibes that they aren't giving up which is really appreciating. BTW, Approval authority is China Film Administration (CFA) not Xi's Government.

DC rules. At some point, I thought "Moonfall" is going to crash "The Batman" I guess with Cinema Re-opening in each Weekend, box office will be growing back in multiple! A good sign for better future.

@Gavin Fengis in a better position to answer this. He might have seen the film. Haha.

I don't follow China BO as well as some of y'all but I've seen no indication that it'll release in China. Maybe I missed something.

IIRC in the past we'd get a China release date 2 weeks or so before its premiere. Sometimes more. There's no word there. We are now 7 Marvel movies in a row and counting without a China release.

Is there no hope for  DSITMOM?

Or subsequent MCU films for that matter?

There's a gay character, apparently prominent enough where editing is not feasible and the movie got banned in some countries already. That plus the supernatural stuff + the streak of Marvel movies not released in China tells me chances of it happening is pretty low.

Thor is probably not happening as there'll be some gay themes in that movie. Same with The Marvels. BP Wakanda Forever and Ant Man are maybes, but we don't know anything about those movies or if the apparent de facto Marvel ban will have been lifted by then.

It's easy to say that when it's not your money in play. Though they shouldn't because of the current high debt and low liquidity Marvel and Disney can kinda eat up not getting the ~20-25% gross from a likely 50-100MM BO Gross that Eternals or Shang Chi would have gotten. However something like their regular movies that get to 150MM or 200MM then it becomes a bit harder. Avengers or the inevitable Secret Wars....those would net Disney over 100MM each. It would be fiduciary irresponsible to their shareholders to not release these products there.

This, finally, someone said something objective and not influenced by political preference. It's all about money and making shareholders happy. I believe all of us know, deep down the Mouse couldn't care less about these political conflicts no matter how much the anti-CCP want them to give up and stop catering to China. Even hardcore Marvel stans on Reddit pretty much can recognize the truth, Disney often uses small markets as a "proof" to media play on western tabloids that they're a "woke" hero or whatever, but the truth is when it comes to a big market like China, they would willing to kowtow and crawl if they could, but the "banning" of Marvel recently is not something they could resolve all by themselves, least they could do now is keep sending previews consistently before the shareholders realize the truth and get pissed off.

I think at this point it's obvious that Disney regrets hiring Zhao, not just because of the whole drama with the CCP, but mostly because of the meh box office performance and low RT scores of Eternals. The other directors, writers, showrunners, and even music composers of other Marvel films/shows immediately got new jobs and got assigned to other MCU or even Star Wars projects while your Zhao is pretty much a goner at this point. Now Disney will have to salvage the Eternals characters and pair them with other newcomers, which I think ain't as easy as altering the plan for a single character like Thor/Thor Dark World in the previous phase. Ironically the critics were right,  Zhao is MCU's Snyder incident on a small scale, at least Zhao can't hurt MCU in the long run as much as how Snyder single handly turned 2 DC tentpole superheroes into a joke and damaged the franchise in 2016.

For China government, "Shang-chi" is at least as problematic as Zhao.

If Marvel really want China market more than anything, they would dump Shang-chi.

However, Marvel is still going to make "Shang-chi" sequel.

Xi's government would have final says on anything.

Rumor reports were that CFA did give Sony guidelines about how to edit "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (including to delete Shang-Chi from Marvel Studios' logo).   Sony did accept CFA's guidelines to re-edit the film.

But still, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" hadn't been released in China yet.

I saw Marvel fans on Reddit had discussed that the next sequel might be reformed to "Agents of Atlas" (similar to Captain Marvel sequel had become The Marvels). It's not because of CCP but because of their so-called new strategy or whatever fancy way they're calling it, which *coincidentally* is similar to how they agreed on removing Shang Chi from Marvel logo, the main hero/heroine suddenly isn't prominent in his/her sequel I suppose. And all we know so far from the official announcement of the studio is they have promised a detailed future specifically for ...Shang Chi's sister with a new spin-off D+ show. But the sequel for Shang Chi is just an empty talk and we don't even know if we have to wait for another 6 years or more like Dr. Strange and his sequel.

The official Douyin account of Maoyan just posted this clip with simplified Chinese subtitles, is it a good sign? Does it mean at least Dr. Strange 2 would  get a (late) release date in the main land?

Fuck!

Don't even think about DS2 will released in China anymore,

Our network has been bombed recently because someone found that DS 2 trailers propaganda cult ,and that propaganda used Chinese Language, which make most Chinese angry again, Most people diss Marvel again after Shang-Chi event, this time even Marvel fans does not support Marvel,

For example, our website has a vlogger called Lorre(same stuff like Youtuber), He is an avid Marvel fan before, but after this cult incident, he publicly declared that he would no longer support Marvel

I don't understand why Marvel do this again and again and again, this is bullshit.
