What in the world is The Monkey King.

It's China's most popular superhero. He is some kind of a heroic/demonic/supernatural/superhero/kingly character that's been banished from Heaven because of his defiance. Google Journey to the West.

From early data over at entgroup.cn, Maleficent has only 6% of total showtimes on Friday, TF4 has 64%. Godzilla has like 2%, while I'm guessing EoT has around 1% or less. DOFP is already out of cinemas.

That's so sad. Give the people a damn option! :(

Yes...   Only one option actually...  that is "Transformers 4"  :(

Why? I thought it looked kinda cool.

Sure it looks like it's a big spectacle but the CGI looks awful and the fact that no words are spoken in the trailer gives you a huge hint about what the movie probably is and that's at best "see it while you're drunk" movie. It made waaay too much in China but that's understandable because they live for this kind of movie.

For those of us not from China can people please start differentiating between yuan and USD? Thank you from a user who's almost had several heart attacks reading the last few pages.

It's a thread for China, Olive and firedeep reserve the right to provide figures in Chinese currency. Now if you see a dollar sign before the number you can be assured they are talking U.S. Dollar.

I advise you against watching this trailer  But a friend of mine actually said he was excited for it...

Interesting, there is an animated version from 1965 that was quite popular in Scandinavia when I grew up.

It was shown on television quite a few times. Maybe I should give this one a look as well.

What I find incredible is so many of these american movies do barn storming business in china, such as these amazing possible numbers for TF4, while a lot of the screenings are shown in English with Chinese subtitles. Can you imagine the reverse happening in the U.S or U.K?
