Ajbg
Aka, You was right. In China people only see one movie.Maleficent was doing great numbers and was killed. They took almost all the screens from a successfull movie. This would never happen in other countries. A Marvel Fanboy
My projections Monday should go up a bit with actuals 110M 726m Tue 104M 830M Wed 95M 925M Thur 90M 1015M Fri 115M 1130m Sat 160M 1270M Sun 140M 1410M/$225M Seems quite optimistic, but can't see it below 1.3B by Sunday. Bear in mind that this is July now. So that Friday and Saturday increases both seem too high. If it follows that, then it will finish with 2B! I am, however, a bit conservative in my expectations. I think Friday gross would be around 100m. I am with Fake. I think Thursday could drop to 85m with Friday backing to around 100m. So: 106/100/90/85/100/120/100 about 700m week. 1.317B after 10 days. A Marvel Fanboy
What is the competition in following weeks like? Also, could someone provide the dailes for TF3 till its 2nd weekend? No real competition until July 17. TF3 daily changes are pointless to look at. At least 200m yuan gross was stolen from TF3 during its first three weeks. A Marvel Fanboy
TBG is heading to 500m+. Cant believe it did 30m+ on Monday .... (as far as I can remember, no comedy has missed 500m with workday above 30m). Millions people had to see TGB instead when they found TF4 was sold out. Well done (again), Enlight. alee7915
Yes, so the updated studio number is just $92M! Why Paramount will Want a smaller number? According to THR's article, What 'Transformers 4's Huge China Opening Means for Hollywood, "The stunning performance of Transformers: Age of Extinction could potentially have implications for the import of Hollywood movies, as the government is keen to foster local talent, and there could be tougher controls on foreign movies coming into the Chinese market" http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/what-transformers-4s-huge-china-715668 Edited July 1, 2014 by A K A

Annayya
I think the question now should be whether TF4 will break 300m in China. Let's see. From your point of view its guaranteed that TF4 will hold the record of best box office performance ever of any movie outside USA. The current record looks as shown in the table below. While I think TF4 can reach $250 million, the Chinese government might stop it or there may be competition in the coming weeks from other movies. I don't keep track of the movie releases in China so I can't say if there's any popular movies releasing soon that will affect TF4 significantly. Fake
Wow! I thought it would be frontloaded, but it seems backloaded! Every daily number has been significantly better than what I would have guessed with the previous day number.$300m doesn't seems very difficult at this point.

alee7915
"The fourth film in the Transformers franchise,Transformers: Age of Extinction, was a massive hit at the box-office today, earning more than $300M in worldwide box office. But for a film which seemed to earn the most money in China this weekend, the film is facing controversy regarding how much it actually earned in the United States. After it was reported that the domestic grosses (US and Canada) brought in $100.038M, individuals began to make claims that Paramount had falsified the 3 day earnings in order to claim they had the first $100M movie of the year. If the claim by the Paramount insider is true that “everyone in town and I mean everyone has it much less than $100M” the film’s domestic grosses could actually be close to the $97-98M earned in China." http://www.filmoria.co.uk/2014/07/transformers-dominates-box-office-but-by-how-much/ Edited July 1, 2014 by A K A
