$50M for MoS should not be much a problem. However I won't predict anything significantly higher (like $80M) than that until we know how it does in other markets before opening here on 6.20.

Dude 50 million would be HUGE (for me atleast), I'd be over the moon and to be honest a franchise reaffirming film cannot ask for any more than that.

Now if only MOS can crack the 10 million mark in Russia (SR did 1 million only)  then it could be it could be on its way to a 300 million OS take (fantastic for a reboot).

Crazy Children's Day Saturday for Animated Films (Early Estimates):

 

1. Star Trek into Darkness ----- 42M +71%

2. Happy Little Submarine 3: Rainbow Treasure ----- 27M +330% animation

3. American Dream in China ----- 22M +47%

4. The Adventures of Sinbad 2013 ----- 19M +425% animation

5. Croods, The ----- 14M +230% animation

6. kuiba Ⅱ----- 9M +260% animation

7. Ironman 3 ----- 2.8M +105%

 

Total Saturday CD gross over 142M, one of the biggest day (#5) of 2013 so far [top four: 2.14(203M), 5.1(174M), 5.4(156M), 4.30(149M)], +133% from this Friday (normal Saturday increase +50%), +56% from that of 2012.

 

Five (or 6) movies over 10M+ on Saturday, another record. 3 (or 4)over 20M, also a record.

 

In other news, May 2013 totaled 2B yuan, becoming the third month ever to cross the 2B mark, after last December and this February.

Could end with $70M.

70 would be awesome, BOM has the overseas at $383,400,000 with China's contribution at $51,440,000 as of 5/19/13. If the final tally is 70 that would push it over 400 OS without any of the other holdovers or Japan (any idea when it releases in Japan? I still can't find a release date.).

Highlights:

 

1. STID 6-days opening week tripled the total gross of Star Trek 2009. A total of $50M for STID should happen now.

 

2. Croods increased on its 7th week of release from the previous week, thanks to Children's Day boost. Its 7th week now is also the second highest grossed 7th week of all time, only behind Avatar.

It is now also the highest grossed film in China that never hit #1 daily.

 

In other news, WB's Man of Steel now officially gets a June 20 release. It will be running in 3D and IMAX 3D, but not 2D. The official release info is published here: http://www.digifilm.com.cn/movie_issue/index
