solidly profitable. should end up with 450m-500m WW and thats in profit territory. 3x combined budget is in solid territory.still with 150m combined budget ,isn't in the top 5 most profitable releases of 2012 - ted, hunger games, ice age 4, breaking dawn 2, magic mike, the avengers were more profitable. all of these posted final totals in excess of 3x combined budget

Fox 2000’s acclaimed Yann Martel adventure brought in a further $60.1m over the weekend, buoyed by Fox’s fourth biggest debut of all time in Russia.

Life Of Pi, directed by Ang Lee, was active on 10,041 screens in 64 markets and as of Sunday [6] stood at $301.9m.

Russia led the way on $14.2m from 1,600 followed by a trio of mighty launches elsewhere. Australia generated $8.3m from 545 including previews, South Korea $5.4m from 392 including previews and New Zealand $1.2m from 140.

The adventure also arrived in Ukraine, Uruguay, Chile and Bolivia. Pi ranked number one in all debut territories except South Korea, where it placed second.

Germany and the UK led the holdovers. The former delivered $5.9m from 728 for $15.4m and second place after two weekends and the UK produced $5.3m from 931 for $28.7m and second place after three.

Elsewhere the film has amassed $15.6m in Lee’s native Taiwan after seven and ranks as Fox’s third biggest release in history, and $15.2m in India after the same period to rank as the third biggest Hollywood release ever.

As previously reported here, the film is no longer active in China where it generated $91m.

500m OS is too much IMO......By next weekend things will be pretty clear.

If it gets 10 noms and lot of the big ones it has a chance... Drops will be very low the next month and could be scary...But Japan is the key... I see 450-500 mill OS now

60m weekend figure is very inflated due to holidays and extended openings. Next weekend there will be some very big drops in some markets.

True but 400M OS is almost locked with a shot at 450M. I'm not holding my breath regarding Japan, who knows what it's going to make there.

Exactly. That $8.3m figure for Australia is roughly $5.5m for the normal 4-day, with the rest from the two days prior. Edited by Wreck-It Robertron!
