Damn. How is Life of Pi doing this much better than Cloud Atlas..

Um one is a PG family movie released on Thanksgiving with a pretty straightforward trailer and the other is an R sci-fi epic released around Halloween with a confusing as hell trailer. I said the trailer was straightforward. You knew what the premise and what it was about so people could then decide if that appealed to them. Cloud Atlas' trailer was impossible to derive the basic premise from and therefore it couldn't appeal to people. I love the movie but even I can 100% understand how and why it didn't do any better. Most people aren't gonna "get" it and it's not gonna be for them. And have you seen Pi? You're missing out big time by the way if you're gonna write Pi off like that without even seeing it. Yeah, 200m+ weekend for sure. Crazy for Thanksgiving. Last year's top 12 was $155m.

I'm thinking it holds better Post Thanksgiving weekend than Casino, and will hold better until Hobbitt comes along. But by that time 300 should be in sight and practically locked even if Hobbitt kills its legs should everything go right from here on out.

I guess, but honestly I never expected it to do more than exactly what it's doing so it doesn't even seem like it's underperforming to me. Just doing as expected (for me at least).

Thank God that nothing relevant is opening till "The Hobbit", so all of those movies have some space to breathe.That would be an insane friday, i hope those numbers are spot on.
