There are facts, there are opinions and then there is just plain nonsense. Bradley Cooper over DDL is just nonsense.

No it isn`t. Cooper is great really great and he was doing something he usually doesn`t. OTOH, DDL has shawn all his cards. he can do broad acting, he can be restrained. Licn is apparently closer to his pre-Bill the Butcher and Ham Chopper work. And both AMPAS and critics love "wow, who knew he/she could do that" surprises sometimes. Natalie Portman`s BS win was all about "wow, did you see that? Portman? Wow." Not that she used to be bad or anything (she was an oscar nominee for playing a stripper) but she took it to a different level in BS and there was also physicla work involved and that always impresses. Plus, Cooper is playing a bi polar, so it`s a baity shit and IMO much harder to play when asked to also provide some comedy along with drama. His timing for both here is insane. he was switching form one to another effortlessly.

Anyone over Phoenix is just plain nonsense. That said, I don't mind cooper winning at all.

Phoenix may end up missing out a nom but he has only himself to blame with his shit talk about oscars. yes, he`s right, it`s all politics and money and not really about perforemnce and talent but by talking about how low it is to campaign for yourself you are aslo campaigning for yourself only in staged anti-campaign way. It`s still whoring for attention.

This isn't special olympics. People shouldn't be rewarded just because there are low expectations for them. DDL is better than Bradley Cooper. Period.

Oh don't be thick. We all know it's never worked and never will work like that. Even psychologically we're more likely to even say that a very good performance from a very low expectation is much better than a towering performance with towering expectations. Fact. So, I think that it may even be subconscious for some of the voters, they do honestly think that Cooper is better because subconsciously the difference between the resulting performance and the expectation of it can influence that decision. DDL delivered what we thought he'd deliver, Cooper blew away expectations. Edited by riczhang

Expectations don't figure into this at all. Bradley Cooper will not beat out DDL for Oscars. Maybe Denzel or Phoenix but Cooper isn't winning it. Who knows why they awarded Bradley Cooper and Ann Dowd but neither of them are going to win Oscars this year.

I agree with that, but I'm just offering up a logical explanation as to why someone would vote for Cooper over DDL.
