The negativity continues.

It does here because people actually understand the reality of the boxoffice. Everywhere else, uneducated (in terms of BO) fanboys think that breaking December record equals beating TA. The sheep from TORN are extatic about it.

I actually question whether people here really do understand the reality of the boxoffice. I mean, people are actually using words like "disaster" and "bomb" for a movie that is, beyond the shadow of a doubt, going to make a mint at the box office. Given that fact, how is it possibly a "disaster" or a "bomb"?

That is because whoever writes the stories makes it sounds ridiculously positive. Ugh! So annoying!

WB better hope this performs well overall. They really need a new tentpole franchise with Potter ending last year and the Dark Knight Trilogy wrapping up.This year in particular wasn't that great for them, Outside of The Dark Knight Rises, nothing even broke 120M domestic or 330M WW, with numerous big budget flops such as Dark Shadows and Wrath of the Titans and only a few successful low budget films such as Magic Mike and Argo, they haven't been a very stable year for them. Let's see if Peter Jackson's next trilogy hope Man of Steel helps them stay in the game.

It`s a valid point for sure but those who say disaster and bomb know it`s compared to expectations or what was perceived as a minimum that prequel to LOTR was going to make. OTOH, sheep that cheer Friday number honestly believe TA`s going down. I`m not kidding.

90 M x 3.5 = 315 M, the worst case IMO.

Attendance wise, on Friday, Hobbit was on par with the Two Towers... Ending up at 315M would mean a total failure, since The Two Towers ended up at 450M (Adjusted, to be fair). So that's over 140M behind The Two Towers... Fellowship of the Ring also is over 400M adjusted...Normally, this movie should pass 370M to follow get a pass at least, but at 315M it would be waaay to bad. Edited by ChD

But TTT was not a normal blockbuster. It was a major Oscar contender. Same goes for FOTR and Shriekapoo. This time 10 or so years ago, those movies were mentioned everywhere. Awards are important because they pull undecided to see a movie they previously dismissed as silly. So take that into TH hold count. Edited by fishnets
