National Film Registry adds 25 New Movies, including The Matrix

"Breakfast at Tiffany's," "The Matrix," "Dirty Harry" and "A Christmas Story" are among 25 movies that have been selected to be preserved in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.

"These films are not selected as the ‘best’ American films of all time, but rather as works of enduring importance to American culture," The Librarian of Congress James H. Billington said in a statement. "They reflect who we are as a people and as a nation."

Well I guess this ends the debate on wither "The Matrix" is one of the greatest films of all time. You have to put it up there with Sci-Fi Classics, "2001, Star Wars Trilogy, Close Encounters, E.T., Jurassic Park, Terminator 2". It's a Timeless masterpiece and it's cool cause that movie represents the beginning of the digital age that we now live in. Sure there were movies about computers likes "Hackers and The Net" but nothing had Impact like "The Matrix". What's crazy is "The Matrix" will turn 14 years old this March 2013 so again it aged like fine wine.

No it doesn't. The National Film Registry doesn't add films based on how great they are, but how important they are to the development of American cinema and culture. Even a terrible, shittastic film can be important.

IMO, like SW, The Matrix will never be dated, never look old and never go out of style. It's just perfect on every level .
