That's the rub when it comes to Oscar prognosticating: You never wanna choose sides, but your own personal feelings about the nominees will inevitably play a role. Do I think Silver Linings can pull off the big win? With Harvey, sure. Do I think it should win? Absolutely not.

I have to say that Life of Pi's 11 nominations are super impressive given what the circumstances. Fox really didn't do much for the movie awards-wise. They seemed perfectly happy with the film just being an international blockbuster. Not to mention the movie doesn't have strength with actors, and it's something that a DVD screener probably wouldn't do justice. Still, it trumped every movie but Lincoln. Not too shabby!

I actually thought about Pi getting 11 nominations in all the categories it got into but I was too much of a pussy to predict it.

Exactly. Above the line makes up 30-40% of the Academy. You need them to win.
