#ED
Meanwhile Skyfall is sort of flopping in China... Skyfall opened on Monday in China on nearly 5,500 screens, which makes it the widest release ever in the PRC. But a nearly 3-month delay in its release, widespread piracy, and mixed-to-poor word of mouth among theatergoers doomed the Bond film to a disappointing $4.9 million opening-day mainland gross. http://chinafilmbiz.com/2013/01/22/skyfalls-hard-landing-in-china/
keysersoze123
skyfall's china OD is still bigger than all monday number stateside despite it being a holiday in US while it was a working day in China. :-)
BenedictL11
I'm thinking the inauguration on TV yesterday might have hurt some of the Monday's numbers. Don't be surprised to see soft drops today. Edited January 22, 2013 by BEEJAYGRAD11
Gopher
Mixed-to-poor word of mouth? Did they re-release Quantum of Solace there by mistake?
Hiccup
I don't care of the the Skyfall China number. Skyfall has proven itself to us. 300M+ domestic and over a billion worldwide. I think it is already a hit if China likes it or not.

Hiccup
Jus remember China loved Battleship, Transformers 2 & 3, 2012, John Carter, and Journey 2. So they aren't really a place of quality with the exception of Life of Pi and Avengers.
keysersoze123
Mixed-to-poor word of mouth? Did they re-release Quantum of Solace there by mistake? They dont like anything that does not have explosions every other minute. Skyfall is very good but there are slow parts along with action sequences. So its response is not shocking. I am also convinced hobbit wont have great reception as well. There will be a ceiling for its BO in china as well.

The Dark Alfred
So Skyfall won't top TDKR WW. Batman is still the highest grossing 2D release. (If we don't count Titanic due to its 3D re-release) Edited January 22, 2013 by Alfred Unchained
