I think it was a stupid decision from the screenwriter to end the movie with Pilgrim ending up with Ramona instead of Knives. 

I never liked Ramona Flowers, she just came off as kinda apathetic and unlikable. I liked Knives Chau much more, and they should have been the couple in the end imo

 

Knives is easily the superior character and I found Ramona listless, dour and apathetic but Scott and Knives didn't belong together.  Knives desperate near stalking the unworthy Scott was not healthy and she needed to let go for herself.  Scott treated her shoddily and until the very end he's an emotionally and socially stunted man-boy wimp no matter how many fights he inexplicably wins.

 

I am so not the target demographic for this movie  and I don't play video games, but I loved almost everything about this movie but the leads who did the darnedest to suck the life and joy out of  it.  But the style, energy and supporting cast (Culkin, Wong, Evans Routh, Pill, Kendrick etc)  was too much for them to bring down and the movie persevered.

I don't think I've actively tried to like any other movie as much as this one. I've finally given up. Not funny, unappealing characters, lame story, not really sure what anyone sees in it.
