Captain America 3 had an incredibly strong Sunday, eclipsing 2m in gross. It might be the highest grossing single day ever. I need to go back and check Avengers 2, Avengers and Iron Man 3 first.

Captain America 3's gigantic Sunday propels it to an even stronger opening weekend by $90,000 from projections.

There were minor adjustments for the other films in the top 5.

Monday admissions

1. Captain America 3 - 90,518 (-13.4% from Sunday)

6-day estimate (Wed-Mon): $8,620,000

It becomes the #1 film of the year surpassing Batman v Superman's total in just 6 short days. It also knocks off Captain America 2's lifetime gross in 6 days and has made over 3x Captain America's HK gross.

It'll become the 13th release to gross over 10m ever and it'll do the deed by Wednesday or Thursday. It will likely join the top 5 by Sunday bypassing Transformers 4's 12.6m.

2. Finding Mr. Right 2 (previews) - 5,023 (-2.8% from Sunday)
3. Zootopia - 4,811 (+34.4% from Sunday)
4. Trivisa - 1,038 (+8.5% from Sunday)
5. The Boy - 627 (-40.1% from Sunday)

Zootopia saw a huge upswing on Monday with no schools in session. Trivisa also did well to increase.

Everything was wildly overestimated? Really? Are you telling me that Batman v Superman had a better multiplier than Civil War because that is not possible.

Ryan has been wrong before. He uses calculated projections based off of his own admissions taking program.

 

The actual I got CA3's from is almost always accurate unless if it's a typo. Now that Deadline blurb about CA3's drop from Ultron (-15%) makes more sense.

Deceiving hold. Opening day is always frontloaded a bit more than usual and the holiday Monday took away some admissions from this week.

The holiday took a big chunk of admissions away from Captain America 3's 2nd weekend. The hold looks horrible but it isn't that bad.

Finding Mr. Right 2 is a downright disaster. It barely matched the first one's 3rd Thursday pre-sales. I know this movie had special screenings and all but yikes.

Not bad for Captain America 3. I think it will fall less than 50% from last Friday when final admissions come in. Date night sends Finding Mr. Right 2 skyrocketing in daily % increase. That number is still not that good but maybe its weekend won't be a total loss.

Very good for Captain America 3. It finally got a hold under 50% in admissions. Finding Mr. Right suffered with the loss of the Friday night audience. Blah for I Am A Hero. Good hold for Zootopia.

Very good for Captain America. That drop includes opening Wednesday so to fall 63% from a humongous 5-day is pretty darn good. This 11.6m total would put it ahead of Toy Story 3 for #8 all time in only 2 weeks. Finding Mr. Right 2 opened to about what Finding Mr. Right did on opening weekend if you exclude sneak previews. It seems like the fanbase is stagnant and hasn't grown at all since the first film. It has a decent-good chance of surpassing the first film. I Am A Hero opened quite soft though it did face 2 other Japanese openers this week. Decent hold for Zootopia. It will soon pass Ant-Man and X-Men: Days of Future Past to get close to the top 40. There's still a possibility it can get there if it holds extremely well next week. Poor opening for Hana's Miso Soup.
