Actually, now that I think of it, this should probably be moved to the Bond forum.

I think I like the first 2/3rds of Casino Royale slightly more than the first 2/3rds of Skyfall. But I have a strong preference for the final act of Skyfall compared to the final act of Casino Royale. The romantic part of the 3rd act in CR is cheesy as hell, especially the dialogue during those parts. Overall, Skyfall wins because it finishes much stronger.Skyfall - 9/10Casino Royale - 8/10

I'm not going to bother with numbers (life's too short) but Skyfall felt like the more cohesive movie. CR's great in its own, lean way, but it's hard to ignore the discrepancy between the relentless action of the first half and the slowdown when it hits the Casino. In the end CR doesn't have Skyfall's emotional punch.

Skyfall benefited well because Judy Dench wanted it to be her last movie, Casino Royale managed to pack an emotional punch without having to kill off one of bonds long loved icons, and it was never boring.

I'm really surpised people think the end of Skyfall was more emotional. I thought Vesper's death was far better handled and more emotional. I loved how he had to helplessly watch her die, not even able to touch her. Bond breaking down with M in his arms was way too much and forced.

SKYFALL actually wasn't the typical James Bond, It was different. But Casino Royale was a classical Jame Bond movie.

This is really tough as both are in my top 3 (along with OHMSS). Both movies explore Bond's character and persona and deliver great action and good emotions. But I have to say CR has the edge for me. It's something so fresh about it with the "real" action sequences, a heartbreaking romance with Vesper and Daniel Craig as Bond.
