  1. If it does $35 million today then it will actually be very lucky to hit $85 million for the weekend. With that $100 million is out of the question, as it would take a mammoth Saturday jump (from non midnight Friday) for it to get even $90 million. But prequels have never performed as good as originals/sequels. Plus this will likely be a very leggy movie. It will do $300 million easy.
  2. Congrats to Lincoln on the $100 million! It's adding even more theaters this weekend so hopefully the Christmas rush can get it even higher.
  3. I think The Hobbit will make an increase (without midnights) going into Saturday. A bigger one than Avengers, likely. I'm thinking 48/44/29. That would be $121 million for opening weekend.
  4. Wreck-It Ralph is going to get hit really hard come Wednesday.
  5. I saw Rise of the Guardians Friday night at the 9:20pm show, 2D. The theater was average sized and about 15% full. Plot was uneven at times but overall I quite enjoyed it! Not as good as Wreck-It Ralph but I'd give it a slight edge over Brave, honestly.
  6. Skyfall and Rise of the Guardians are the only two that should do $10 million this weekend. Guardians could actually come out on top assuming Saturday and Sunday are strong enough.
  7. Spider-Man 2 - 5/5 Spider-Man - 4.5/5 The Amazing Spider-Man - 3.5/5 Spider-Man 3 - 2.5/5
  8. What? $648 million compared to $415 million domestic is low? Ice Age is by far the exception, not the rule.
  9. Lincoln has indeed proven that despite his age, we should never doubt Spielberg. The man is a legend.I wonder if the incredible buzz for Lincoln will help Robopocalypse out come 2014.
  10. That estimate for The Collection is ridiculous. Do they really expect a horror film to have a 19.9% Saturday to Sunday drop in early December?
  11. Those are some big Saturday increases.I like it. A lot.
  12. Nikki doesn't say but apparently it "won't get near" the $3.6 million opening of it's predecessor.
  13. The Skyfall vs Breaking Dawn II battle seems to get just a bit more intense each week.
  14. So Skyfall and Breaking Dawn II are both looking to do $275-300 million, which means November 2012 will have had two films that ultimately sold 34-38 million tickets. Wreck-It Ralph is looking to sell at least 20-22 million, and tons of films have potential for 10-12 million. Looking at this just shows how strong this month has been. For reference no other month this year had more than one film sell 30 million tickets.
  15. Those two were the exception, not the rule though. Most family films (and most films in general) typically have slight decreases on the Saturday after Black Friday.
  16. Ditto for Wreck-It Ralph. Best animated film since Toy Story 3 IMO.End of Watch is really good, I don't know if you're a fan of the "found-footage" esque filming or not, but just know that is how it is presented. It's really exciting though and actually has a few really naturally funny moments. Pitch Perfect was okay, but then again I have never been a big fan of the Glee-ish stuff. Anna Kendrick (also in End of Watch) and Rebel Wilson are great though.
  17. Wow. This is a great weekend! Holdovers are doing great and pretty much every new release except Guardians did much better than expectations. Gotta love these rare weekends where almost everything is doing really good.
  18. Come to think about it Guardians might see a sizable increase on Thanksgiving itself. At the very least, I think this opens up the possibility of Skyfall taking back the #1 spot for either next weekend or the weekend after.
