  1. I'm guessing the hundred or so value theaters it is still playing in will be tracked for another couple of weeks.
  2. That Wreck-It Ralph number makes me incredibly happy. What is that? A 59% increase?
  3. I dunno. Looking at 2008 numbers I would not think so. A lot of things increased that day- HSM3 went up 66%! Here are the numbers for the past couple elections for anyone who cares: 2004- http://boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/?sortdate=2004-11-02&p=.htm 2008- http://boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/?sortdate=2008-11-04&p=.htm
  4. If those numbers hold then that is awesome for Ralph and Flight!
  5. That was the same for my theater. The audience loved it, and might have been the most diversified audience I've been in this year.
  6. Great opening for Wreck-It Ralph and well deserved. Hopefully it will have a very good hold next weekend and continue to hold well throughout the holidays. It should land anywhere from $175-205 million depending on legs. And wow, great job for Flight as well. $25 million from less than 2000 theaters. I'm thinking this is going to hold very well as more theaters add it.
  7. Shut up and let me have my optimistic night without thinking of these possibilites, damn it. Very happy Ralph is doing big business. And great for Flight, as well.
  8. Oh yeah, that was it. And it does looks terrible.
  9. I've got two- Sunday, Oct. 14th Argo 2:15pm 60-65% full/ 380 seats (biggest auditorium) Trailers: Cloud Atlas - There was some general interest in this, I think. I heard one guy behind me go "thats going to be amazing" so who knows? Skyfall- Lots of excitement. Alex Cross - A little chatter. Zero Dark Thirty- Chatter. As for the movie, it was absolutely amazing. Perfectly paced, intensely written, and superbly acted. I can't believe I'm saying this but Ben Affleck seriously deserves a medal for this film. The audience loved it too, even applauding at the end. And... Friday, Oct. 19th Pitch Perfect 7:20pm 85% full/172 seats (smallest auditorium) We got in as the last trailer was playing, so the only one I saw was some weird romance/fantasy where they had southern accents and all I got was that it comes out in February. The actual movie was actually quite entertaining, a lot better than I initially expected it would be, mainly because it actually manages to stay consistantly funny throughout. The plot has your typical "we need to do something different" theme but it's written quite well and acted very nicely (Rebel Wilson stole the show, but I have to say Anna Kendrick is quickly becoming one of my favorite actresses in the business.) The audience enjoyed it a lot as well and laughed throughout most of the movie it seemed.
  10. Man that is an EPIC hold for Argo. Definitely glad to see that and I hope it keeps making great holds throughout it's run. Also glad to see Pitch Pefect holding in there well.
  11. If Looper hits $20 million I will be the happiest person ever.Don't really care about HT but honestly at this rate if it makes $35-40 million that's awesome because the box office desperately needs it.
  12. Great for End of Watch. Definitely deserved to be #1 this weekend IMO.Maybe if EoW can come out from next to no buzz at all and slight competition (from Dredd) and exceed expectations hopefully Looper can do really well next weekend.
  13. I don't really understand why people compare these two movies so much. Sure they're plots are somewhat complex and they are both thrown around as "mind-benders" for some reason but The Matrix is a sci-fi fantasy mainly based around the philosophical concept of false realities and human enslavement while Inception is a heist drama based around a group of people that go into people's dreams to secure information/ or plant information. Sure the whole "false reality" concept pops up a time or two in Inception (mainly regarding Mal) and they both have some gunslinging, the two are really very different films. But I guess I'd choose The Matrix, it definitely left you thinking about the concepts discussed in the film. And anyone who disagrees with how groundbreaking that movie was is in severe denial. That said Inception is also a great movie.
  14. The Dark Knight Rises, despite being in 9th place this weekend, still has the 4th best pet theater average of all estimated wide releases with $1,653 per theater.Hopefully this will assist it in staying around long enough to get past $450 million, though next weekend it appears things will finally start picking up.
  15. Someone should make an "Amazing Spider-Man dollar theater release over Oogieloves 4-day" club just for fun.
  16. $47 Per theater average. :rofl:This is going to make John Carter and Battleship look like The Avengers and TDKR.
  17. It does every now and then though. Last summer me and some others went to go see Crazy, Stupid, Love which was sharing a screen with Smurfs and they accidentally played Smurfs. Needless to say reactions were quite hilarious.
  18. If Expendables 2 ends up close to $15 million that's really, really good and a way better drop than the first movie had. And does this mean Bourne and TDKR will stay in the top 3 leading into Labor Day? Sweet. (Though mainly good for TDKR's lasting abilities somewhat helped, pretty terrible weekend overall.)
  19. The only way Total Recall might beat The Dark Knight Rises this weekend is if TR ends up on the higher end of the estimate ($12.5m) and TDKR ends up on the low-low end ($9.5m) AND TR somehow gets around it's horrible word of mouth and have a good hold tomorrow with both films having similar Sunday drops. Basically that is the absolute best case senario for TR and worst case senario for TDKR. Only way it could happen.
  20. That Wednesday hold is probably one of the better things about TDKR's run so far.
  21. $450 million sounds reasonable. TDKR's weekend gross played out a LOT better than what Friday's numbers initially suggested. Granted a bit of that probably was from the Olympics, but still. Total Recall isn't going to provide any worthwhile competition so this weekend should be relatively slow and maybe a lower 40% hold is in the realm of possibilities.
  22. Geez possibly as low as $16 million? That's fucking crazy. Next thing we know just making it to $400 million is going to end up being a godsend.
  23. For what it's worth I saw The Dark Knight Rises again tonight (4th time, woohoo thats a record for me). It was in an 8-screen theater and in the one of the smaller auditoriums (8:00pm show, the 7:00pm was in a much bigger one). About 140 seats and I counted 119 people in it. That might not sound like a lot but it's actually very good for this area. The parking lot was also packed and I don't think they were all there for Step Up and The Watch so I think it's safe to assume the other show was also almost full. This probably belongs in the crowd reports thread but I just figured I'd share it here since we're all wondering how much interest people still have for the film. Though I am very close to the east coast so this really isn't a "problem" area anyway.
