  1. The OS will likely save John Carter from being a disastrous flop and maybe save some jobs at Disney. It's still not going to make money but at least it's not the next Mars Needs MomsGreat for Friends with Kids, it almost matched The Artist with far less screens
  2. Official weekend estimate: $39.1 million for 'The Lorax' from 3,746 locations. Location avg. = $10,430.Official weekend estimate: $7 million for 'Act of Valor' from 2,951 locations. Location avg. = $2,372.Official weekend estimate: $11.550 million for 'Project X' from 3,055 locations. Location avg. = $3,781.Official weekend estimate: $2.304 million for 'The Artist' from 1,505 locations. Location avg. = $1,531.https://twitter.com/#!/Boxoffice
  3. Maybe Silent House is like a "art house" film and lack real scares to make the audience care about it or maybe a lame resolution that's why it got an F
  4. True. Since John Carter is the hot topic, Murphy's next bomb got little notice if not for John Carter's box office disappointment Murphy would be the easy punching bag
  5. Based on the schedule I have it will be released on Aug. 22, but of course this is always subject to change
  6. Not a fan of 3D but the first one used it quite well and very entertaining to boot
  7. Friends with Kids (Bridesmaids cast semi reunion) is only on 374 locatioms.Really 10 million for A Thousand Words? That's really good but then this is just noon numbers
  8. Moneyball Greenbelt 3, Makati City, Philippines 5:30 pm screening 30% full (300-400 seats) Trailers Anonymous The Expendables 2 (some cheers when the names of the stars were flashed on screen and loudest cheer for Norris) The Avengers The Movie I wanted to watch John Carter but to my surprise the 5:20 2D screening was sold out so I watched this instead. Baseball is not a popular sport here in the Philippines (we are a basketball nation) so I was not surprised that very few people watched this. If this didn't star Brad Pitt this won't be screened here at all. Admittedly at the start I had a hard time following the story with all those baseball jargon and statistics but somehow it still drew me in especially the snappy dialgoue. Loved the rapport between Pitt and Hill. I don't think Hill delivered a performance worthy of an Oscar nod but he's very likable here so it's all good. Pitt was very good as well, he commanded the screen like no other and made Billy a compelling character The small crowd is very responsive I must say and I think some of them are actual baseball fans. There was this one guy seated near me though that kept on explaining to his date what is happening and I chuckled when at the last part of the movie the girl asked the guy "didn't you say they will win?" and the guy was definitely caught off guard Lots of good chatter as people exited the theater Well-crafted film definitely A
  9. Was browsing the forums when the BoxOffice.com full transfer happened

  10. Woah Happy Feet 2 is still in theaters, barely reached 64 million, how sad.17 million for Arriety, not bad right?
  11. It has the Hoodwinked 2 vibe but you know it can still surprise us if they get a good release date like the first one did, the budget should be minimal.
  12. Click the City film critic Philbert Dy gave John Carter 4.5 / 5!Yeah while John Carter may likely flop in the US, it might do good business here with no competition. But oh well we're just a small market :(Might see this tonight

It went back to theaters on Jan. 8 and the only foreign movie holdover from 2011 ------------ Ghost Rider 2 surpasses Sherlock Holmes 2, what a shame! But GR2 had the advantage of 3D and if you look at it the top 3 foreign flicks are all available in 3D War Horse barely beat that atrocious Breaking Wind! Really sad it did poor And One for the Money bombed!

Filipinos are suckers for horror flicks lol As expected so-so openings for Oscar movies Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and War Horse No numbers for Ayala Cinema exclusive My Week with Marilyn (just in 3 cinemas) WTF at J. Edgar $5! Just one person who watched it? I'm very sure Marilyn did better since when I watched in Greenbelt 3, the theater was 80% full
  16. Moneyball opens today (March 7) and John Carter on Friday (March 9). John Carter should dominate with less competition and the Kitsch scandal getting the movie more publicity (the boycott thing? nah will never happen)
  17. Spongebob is still well loved by kids, it may not be funny to us anymore since we're grown ups already but the kids still are very much into it. I saw cable ratings TV By The Numbers and Spongebob show dominate the ratings although I think it's the only popular Nick has currently since Disney Junior toons are dominating the kids market.I do miss the old school Nick toons. My favorites were Hey Arnold, Rugrats, The Wild Thornberries, Invader Zim and As Told By Ginger. Ginger is a rare kind of kids show that has character development
  18. I'm looking forward to the The Odd Life of Timothy Green. I know it will be released on August so expectations is low I guess but the premise got my attention plus it has Jennifer Garner
