..and 2 of my favorite movies are "once upon a a time in the west" and carpenter's the thing and both were flops . I just find hilarious that a few people are saying that the avengers is not "quality enough" to be such a huge Bo success .
Yeah great movie. I love movies that have political messages and themes and manage to be entertaining at the same time . Gene Hackman is seriously one of the best "presences" in the history of cinema , the guy dominates every movie he is in , even when he doesn't have the leading role . He is especially great in this one , the scene at the barbershop with the deputy is one of the most satisfying scenes in any movie .
Depp is my favourite actor of the last 20 years and i respect that he succeded by taking roles that demanded him looking ugly and weird (instead of playing the prety boy like some other actors of his generation) but i think that dark shadows was the last straw . Both him and Tim Burton should have showed more respect to the character of Barnaba Collins and i am glad that it flopped at the B.O.He should stick to Jack Sparrow , when it comes to weird roles .
Actually the western movies were very popular in Europe in the sixties , the spaghetti westerns that is , which are vastly superior than the american ones anyway (and not just the Leone films, there's a ton of kick ass spaghetti westerns) . It's these films that tatarantino is trying to emulate with Django (and he did that with inglorious basterds too, even though this wan't a western )
I was hyped for this movie and it turned out to be silliness personified . They took every horror movie cliche ( characters acting like retards ,people being killed ,one by one in the most predictable order ) and magnified it . The pseudo intellectually monologues were laughable , the story non- existent and the unbelievabilty of the whole thing was off the charts . Seriously, when these morons decided to jump off the cliff and the wolves were down there expecting them was the last straw for me .The cinematography was great though and so was the sound and watching it in the privacy of my room with 5.1 speakers could haven something.....if only the story wasn't that stupid. A bad exploitation movie in disguise...It made me appreciate Carpenter's the thing even more.
The arrow (U.K publisher) release of the beyond. These guys are doing an amazing job with these cult releases surpassing companies like ancor bay and blue underground .
B . I was pleasantly surprised, I expected it to totally suck and it was , at the very least, decent. Of course it was nowhere near as good as the Carpenter film but , what can I say, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit . The acting was good and the cgi didn't bother me at all .
Yeah , SM3 isn't anywhere near as bad as most of the bad comic book movies, it's just , that unlike these movies , SM3 was a big blockbuster and that makes people automatically compare it to the good comic book movies .
It's between avengers, dark knight and LOTR:ROTK for me. The worst is definately titanic ( i despise that trainwreck of a movie for ending Cameron's career as an action director) with the Harry potter movie a second close .
Brad Pitt is not even a big box office draw now to begin with, more of a celebrity due to his looks and relationship with Jolie than an actual huge BO name .
Underwhelmed, I thought the previous MI was a much better film with one of the best and most vicious villains, at least in recent films, portrayed by the great Phillip Seymour Hoffman . This had no real focus , IMO.
