Its fitting that F7 is going to break the record since it really started this trend of April blockbusters. Universal has to be ecstatic, its probably the fastest growing big 7 studio.
That little alien did the trick, kids love cute sidekicks; it had nothing to do with Parsons or Rihanna, some people are really overestimating those fanbases. Kids dont give a fuck about Big Bang Theory.
Yeah. its much more kid-friendly than Cinderella. It has the cute little aliens. But most people were doubting that it could hit 30m, so no revisionist history.
Pan should move to august, right now there aren't any family type films there and I guess the biggest competition would be fantastic four. It's looking at a sub-30 opening in July if it doesn't move.
Yeah Lionsgate already go their money from overseas, they're really only concerned with domestic. I cant say im surprised by the tepid numbers. This is a midrange YA franchise like The Maze Runner. Its not a failure.
-i think the movie does appeal to older kids and families. The Frozen Short is really going to help out with the under 5 crowd. Maybe Home wont be a total bomb though since that looks more like a 'kids' movie.
-Insurgent will have some crossover with this but i think it appeals more to teens/young adults. So it wont be hit that hard, but i dont think its expanded its audience outside of fans.
Well, that remains to be seen but Will Smith hasnt had a Tom Cruise moment yet. I dont think GA (americans) are as tired of him like they are with Depp. They may be tired of his kids, but not Smith.
Taken 3 Surprisingly wont make it. American Sniper really took the wind out of it's sales.
So it looks like only Spongebob and Fifty Shades are locks after Jan/Feb. We'll see if Kingsman can leg its way to 100m, there isnt much competition for the rest of the month.
I don't know if this type of classic horror still resonates with today's audiences. It looks gorgeous visually though and it's in the ideal release date.
