  1. It is wierd, because Riely came off as someone in her early teens in the first one.
  2. What did Pascal do to piss so many people off? Seems good casting to me. I wonder if we ever see Alicia's father, The Puppet Master, SHow up, though.
  3. So will lots of people. SOmebody has no idea how popular sports are.
  4. I think the overagressiv e and pushing stuff out the window before it had a really script polish applies to the MCU shoes as well as the SE shows. and no doubt he simply grouped the Marvel shows too close together. Peole just got burned out on not going from one MCU show to another with only a couple of weeks break. I note they hav e been spaced much farther apart recently.
  5. Still hope they will get around to making a movie of "The Book Of Mormon".
  6. I think it is Cameron's best film, though I think it a good movie rather then great. I can think of a couple of other movies that do the whole 'Doomed Romance Against a Background Of A Historiacl Event" better..Dr Zhivago comes to mind. But yes, it's box office run is incredible. It had one well is several releases. including one in 2012 for the 100th Annivbersary of the sinking. Interesting question is would the film do as well if it got it's frist release today, given how much Historical Epics have fallen out of favorm and a great many people getting bored if there si not some big epic action scene every 20 minutes. Most amazing theing about the CGI in Titanic is not the sinking, but it incredibly accurate recreation of what the Titanic looked like. Cameron seems to have fanatic about the whole production design, down to the costumes and props ,being as accurate as possible, and spending quite a bit on research to make so it was.
  7. ITO revive a dead thread, but I sitll think the main reason this movie dissapointed is that people wanted to see Godzilla in a movie called "Godzilla" not a overgrown Iguana.
  8. I thnk it has now gone full circle, and we are back wehre most sequels, even if sucessful, will not do the numbers that the original did.
  9. So much for the idea that streaming i just a fad that will go away. More an more of the cable channels will begin to stream . I think the coming of streaming was inevitable. what made it grow was the coming of cheap home Wi FI,. And I repeat this would have happened even if Covid had never happened, it just would have taken longer. COvid just speeded up the process. which is why those waiting for movie box office to go back to the way it was before Covid are just fooling themsleves.
  10. Yes, CBM fatigue is real, and the days when just about any CBM movie could at least be counted to make back it's budget are long gone, but declarint the whole genre dead is wrong. But the non fanboy audience has become a lot more selective. THis movie will need a good reception to be a hit.
  11. A little surprised; I sort of thought the torch had been passed to Kate BIshop and CLint has retired. THe one location, though, is interesting, it means probably a smaller budget....and I suspect that you will be seeing smaller budgets for the Disney Plus series. No boubt they overspent on them. On the other hand, the more Hailey Stanfield as Kate the better. I have liked her ever since her Mattie Ross in "True Grit".
  12. This will make a profit for the studio. The Daughter will get into the same niche as the father. Still the fall of M Night with just one film is like something I have never seen . Yes, he did recover enough to have a sucessful career with modestly budgeted films, but it is along way from the days when he was being widely hailed as the next Speilberg. WHy Lady In the Water so damaged his career is a bit of a puzzle, let's leave out if it was a good film or not. IOther directors have had just a big a bomb but still kept their A status,M Night has never really gotten his back. He did get a couple of big budget projects, but both his version 'Of The Last Airbender" and "After Earth" failed to life him out of his niche. AIr bend made a profit but was reallaay badly reseived,..fans of the TV sereis really hated it..and After Earth was an out and out bomb. I think he is a situation where he can get funding for his modest bueget niche horror projects, but no one will trust him with a really big budget. I don't see that changing.
  13. I think studio considers this to be a niche film. ANwya, with a low budget land being a horror film little chance it will lose money for the studio/ For some reason I c onfused this with the Watchers...
  14. I think Riley is a bit older then that, she was around 13 in the first film. I think the comparasions will be with the first film.
  15. Having read the novel and seen the stage show, I guarantee you the two film format guarantees lots of padding just for length.
  16. Or, if you want be cynical, it;s proof of P.T. Barnum's alleged saying "No one every went broke understimating the taste of the American Public". I simply don't like ANY of the live actoin reamkes. None have any of the charm or energy of the originals.
  17. Maybe he would have done better to use his low key, gritty realistic crime film sensiblites to this move, and make a more grounded film about World War Two Special Operations, then end up doing what amounts to a poor man's 'Inglorious Basterds".
  18. THIS. Low budget horror movies are the safest investment in film. there is enough of a core audience to guarantee you will probably not lose money, and probably make a profit. Intersting to see if the daughter can eventually make it to the BIg Time like her Dad did before his fall from grace. M Night has never really recovered from what happend with "Lady In the Water". Yes he has found a sucessful place for himself, but it ia long way from when he was being proclaimed as the Next Speilberg.......
  19. My main concern is still stereteching this out to two movies. That is pulling the stage show really, really, thin.
  20. Well given it takes place in Oklahoma it is what you would expect..........
