I think pulling something like this off for a life action movie in a quality that you dont want to claw your eyes out might be a bit beyound this movies budget ... how much are they putting into this? 50M?
Yeah... JA would have worked much better if they would have had more time to flesh out the characters. Besides a movie trilogy, a simple TV miniseries like what they did for Dune/Children of Dune would have been pretty great as well
Yeah thats what i have brougt up a few times in the 50 shades thread. And it is not even necessary that most people went online to buy tickets.... since as far as i understand it the number of tickets sold online is relatively small it can be influenced pretty easily by anomalies like this movie. This then leads to skewed overall predictions.
The Spongebob fans were originally fans of the TV shows and the movies are a bonus... so you could say that the SB movies are a subsequent upgrade to existing characters whereas for Dragon and Penguins TV shows were a downgrade that hurt the characters. I think in these cases the order in which tv shows and movies were made is important.
Finally saw this... the staggered international realease really has been pretty annoying
As for the movie. Liked it quite a bit. Especially the Baymax-Hiro character dynamics was very well realized. One thing that really stood out a little negative for me was the overall soundtrack. The background music just did never really work all that well together with the visuals which was a little disappointing when you consider that this is a disney movie. In the end i think i like it a little less than Wreck it Ralph. Anyways another cool thing is that i saw the name of a former collegue pop up in the credits (he worked on Hyperion )
well another issue for people not from the states is that BH6 is getting an extremely stretched out release... in austria we wont get it until next year
ill probably watch it next week when i am in new york though
here a list of some that are undeniably one
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grimms%27_Fairy_Tales
stuff like Snow White, Briar Rose (Sleeping Beaty) or Little Red Riding Hood are on there.
I think the young female demographic is pretty important to BH6... maybe not as important as for Frozen, but still i think MJ1 could hurt it quite a bit.
did some wikipediaing and i guess fairy tales written by an Author are called literary fairy tales... the real fairy tales are those that have been collected by for example people like the brothers grimm... stuff like for example Hansel and Gretel.
well how do you define fairy tales... if you only count folk tales for which an author is not known then stuff like the little meremaid is also not a fairy tale.
Oh, and BH6 having a 30% ish drop this WE would be really really cool!
Damn i still have to wait until the beginning of December when i am in new york to see it... here in austria it isnt released until next year
right... i completely forgot about that one. I wonder if Penguins will bomb as hard... though i suspect it will do quite a bit better (also i would assume its cheaper anyways)
so overall competition is really somewhat similar... maybe even a bit weaker. Mockingjay might be a bit stronger than those, but then we probably wont see any more ~300M grossers at the end of the year.
