Yeah I expect to see more reboots and/or sequels to many 90's properties (you're certainly already seeing it as you point out). The past decade or so has a lot of 80's remakes for the same reasons you listed above.

I think Jaw's original sequels proved that one movie is enough for that concept. They make the JP2+3 look like cinematic masterpieces...

Regarding IO next weekend, rank doesn't really matter, rather the amount of money it makes does. If it makes $80m next weekend, and still finishes 2nd, who really cares? That being said I still think it has a great shot at opening at #1, as JW will fall quite a bit from a massive OW.

The trades always super cautious with these huge OWs.

I really can't believe that some people predicted less than 100m OW. It was evident by tracking that it would at least hit that. But this is an insane number. The OW is gonna go way over what most everyone predicted.

Since I heard the trailer is a little spoilerish, I won't watch until I'm done reading the book (which incidentally I started reading on Friday). The book, btw, is really good so far.

MM should have great walk-ups with the amazing reviews it's getting. Just want it to get over 40m, anything over is gravy.

This shouldn't have a huge drop next weekend. Nothing that directly competes with it is coming out. 500m is definitely still in play.

It's a great OW. Maybe not as high as some were hoping but still, this can get the 2nd highest 2nd weekend of all time with a sub 60% drop.

I highly doubt it's gonna match TA. I mean that had a 3x multi, which is incredible legs following the biggest OW of all time.

IMAX is debuting their new laser projection system in many theaters. This weekend, my local IMAX theater, at the Air and Space museum in Dulles, is replacing their old 15/70 projector and trading it in for the new laser projection (as well as an upgraded sound system), becoming one of the first theaters in the world with these projectors. While I lament the loss of 70mm film, this system seems to be quite revolutionary in digital projection, improving brightness, contrast, and 3D, Unfortunately, I am at college right now and will not be able to check out how it looks, but I am wondering if others are seeing Avengers (or future films) in this way? Do you mind posting how it looks compared to film, digital, and IMAX digital projection? Any other thoughts? Here is a good article explaining the system. Looking forward to checking it out once I get the chance!

I really can't see AoU falling below 500m. I don't think it's gonna do as much as TA though. The Jurassic World predictions are the only ones (with the exception of the 250m one) where I'm confused about their predictions. I think it'll do 200m minimum.

You should get on that. Django and Inglorious Basterds are both really, really good, a huge reason being his performances.
