  1. Minions represents everything wrong with some animated movies. Please drop harder than any animated movie yet.
  2. They're mad because he's picking on a movie they like. Jurassic World is one of those movies that works in spite of itself. Badly written, but directed pretty well and knows how to massage nostalgia.
  3. JP1 is 700 adjusted? Geez I thought it was somewhere between 600-650. Never mind then.
  4. Animal House is the one for me that disappointed. It's not bad, but nowhere in that movie is there a single laugh out loud moment. It's all chuckles.
  5. I liked Jurassic World, but it's like Avatar in that its über success is making me hate it. It does not deserve outgross the original adjusted.
  6. I'm normally a film snob and I loved Ted 2. Take that for what it's worth.
  7. Ted 2 could end up having good WOM. The OW is a combination of unnecessary sequelitis at first glance, an unfunny trailer, and so many other options. But it really surprised me.
  8. You guys haven't even seen Ted 2. The critics are waaay off with this one. So much funnier than the first movie.
  9. To say Jurassic World's success means Genesis will succeed is just fucking stupid. Inflation is something to consider, yes, but so is a dwindling audience. I also didn't realize Arnold was still a draw. Why? Cause he's not.
  10. Huh? Terminator is going to flop. There's no reason to believe it'll do any better than the last 2
  11. Comedy trailers rarely make me laugh these days. This one had me in stitches for the last 30 seconds. Wahlberg punching the wall was too much.
  12. Think you honed in on the wrong things, my friend. The bit about dystopian scifi movies was just an amusing side note. The movie was railing against society's acceptance of all of these terrible things happening in the world, and asking us to do something about it. It was about belief in a better future, not a future without post-apocalyptic stories. That's a childish interpretation of the film's themes. I'm honestly appalled that that's all you heard when watching the movie. Also, the themes don't need to be subtle in a fucking kids movie.
  13. Somebody's gotta make slashers scary again. The problem with them is they're rarely if ever scary, which is funny since technically they're more realistic than supernatural horror movies.
  14. Isn't it funny how, with some exceptions, WOM is always bad for horror movies? Yet people still go to see them in relatively substantial numbers.
  15. So is BOM about to go bye-bye? I don't know the history of the behind-the-scenes stuff...what's happened to it?
  16. Missing 100mil is a bit far-fetched. It's still a big Disney brand and they'll market it to hell. Probably 150mil domestic.
  17. Slightly depressed by the reviews and potentially bad box office for Tomorrowland now. Why? Just saw it...not a great movie, but a good one, and a movie that I feel critics are holding to a higher standard than they should. This is a kid's movie through and through. I was never bored, and something about it touched me, though I can't put my finger on it.
  18. I could not care less if the movie is faithful. As long as it's a good movie on its own.
  19. I think you and I just define "deep" differently. All of these movies you've listed are absolutely layered, inventive, thoughtful films with something on their mind other than soulless action, particularly Lego Movie. But with the exception of the latter, they're not "deep." I reserve that term for another level of filmmaking. Think There Will Be Blood or No Country for Old Men.
  20. Mad Max is compelling, and it's one of my favorites this year so far, but I wouldn't call it deep. The closest to "deep" I've seen in a blockbuster is The Dark Knight.
