  1. Never saw Sinister but Insidious sufficiently creeped me out and The Conjuring was one of the best horror films in a long time.
  2. Hangover 3 recouped its budget with domestic alone. Disappointment, yes, but still a bonafide financial success.
  3. Ryan Reynolds is a decent actor with a horrible, horrible agent.
  4. You can dislike his films, but to call him a hack is to claim that he's disrespected throughout the industry, which is simply a lie. He's an auteur.
  5. Da Vinci Code was surprisingly decent, or maybe I'm just remembering the amazing Zimmer score. Never saw A&D.
  6. If you don't count Hunnam, 13/15 is about right. But Hunnam was TERRIBLE.
  7. Go beforehand or don't get a drink.
  8. There's nothing wrong with DKR. God, I hate the internet sometimes.
  9. Laughing at a trailer like the one for Gravity just implies a certain level of immaturity. No offense since you said you laughed too. But I can only picture 13 year-olds laughing at it.
  10. Comments like this make me lose hope in humanity. That's Idiocracy-like.
  11. Re: WHD Where are people going to learn that old-school action doesn't sell anymore. If you're lucky it'll gross 100mil (Olympus) or a little more (Expendables), but otherwise they rarely appeal to a large audience. The last decade's onslaught of superheroes, aliens, wizards, supernatural pirates, and giant robots has ensured that guns n' missiles movies are passe` to audiences now. The only outlier is the Fast franchise, but even those required outlandish car chases/stunts and an Expendables/Avengers-esque cast reunion to give them their current boost. Edit: Bond and Mission: Impossible don't count for obvious reasons.
  12. By today's in-your-face, bright-CGI-everywhere blockbuster standards, ID4 is actually sorta low-key and takes its time building the story and characters.
  13. It is a pointless discussion, but I imagine people debate these things as a way to argue which movies were liked more i.e. "my favorites are better than your favorites."
  14. Just lost some respect for you. That's one of the best TEASERS in a while. Looks hilarious.
  15. That may be true, but there's no actual way of knowing that IM3 would've had better legs were it released at a different time of the summer.
  16. If you're going to calculate a weekend multiplier for a Wednesday opener, you average together the 3-day and 5-day numbers. TASM did not have a 4.2 multiplier. Sorry. Using that equation, TASM has a 99-100mil 3-day opening and a 2.6x.
  17. DM2 is even more unnecessary than MU. I don't think it'll be as huge as everyone thinks.
  18. None of that matters. The multipliers are what they are. No getting around it. We've seen movies have great legs in the face of competition before. IM3 could've done it. It didn't.
  19. It's going to suffer the same fate as Expendables 2. Red was a novelty.
