  1. I have a feeling that this year summer blackout will be stricter than the past few years, after we experienced somewhat lenient control last year
  2. Get Out and Wonder woman, but, both proved legs matters, Tomato law(RT score) is just like Midi-chlorian, the higher it is, the stronger the FORCE, thus making WW and GO be strong with the FORCE I hope I won't get killed by SW's prequel haters for this
  3. This is not Man of Steel......SMH has Tomato Law as its guarantor
  4. seriously, after coming back from SMH showing, instead of searching how much it has earnings or its RT score, I googled tom holland's age. I can't be possibly be the only one here!!??!?!
  5. and Fox decided to NOT have any 3D version or IMAX here in malaysia, only 2D standard showing, I don't understand their strategy
  6. Box Office: 'Wonder Woman' Holding Better Than Any Superhero Movie in 15 Years Word of mouth is a wondrous thing. Look no further than Warner Bros. and DC's Wonder Woman. The summer blockbuster boasts the best hold of any superhero film in more than 15 years at the North American box office, where even the most successful summer tentpoles can catch a case of sunstroke and retreat to the shade rather quickly amid so much competition. Wonder Woman is the unusual exception. Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman is still going strong as it heads into its seventh week. The movie, grossing $371.3 million through Tuesday, is now assured of topping out at $390 million or more domestically, becoming the No. 8 comic book adaptation of all time, not accounting for inflation. And it will soon pass up Disney and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($385.8 million) in North America to become the top summer earner. That also means Wonder Woman will earn roughly 3.8 times the $103.3 million it collected when it launched over the June 2-4 weekend — the best multiple for the genre in decades. Currently, the film's multiple is 3.6, slightly ahead of the first Spider-Man in 2002. The first Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) was also a word-of-mouth sensation, sporting a 3.5 multiple, while Nolan's sequel, The Dark Knight (2008), powered to a 3.4 multiple. Generally speaking, a multiple in the vicinity of 2.5 to 3 is considered a win for a superhero film, particularly if the opening is especially mighty, i.e., north of $120 million. "It feels like Wonder Woman will play all the way through August," says Warners' Jeff Goldstein, president of domestic distribution. "Right now, the movie is still in about 3,000 locations. Usually, the theater count would be a fraction of that at this point." The critically acclaimed film is also destined to become the studio's third-biggest movie domestically after The Dark Knight ($534.9 million) and The Dark Knight Rises ($448.1 million), again not accounting for inflation. It is about to pass up the final Harry Potter film ($381 million) after eclipsing American Sniper ($350.1 million) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($330.4 million). Globally, Wonder Woman has already become the top-grossing film of all time from a female helmer with solo directing duties. Overseas, Wonder Woman has been slower to catch on, earning roughly $380 million to date for a global total of around $750 million. Many times, the foreign box office accounts for 70 percent of a tentpole's total gross; Wonder Woman's split is currently 49 percent domestic and 51 percent international. Earlier this week, Ryan Reynolds and the team behind 20th Century Fox's superhero sensation Deadpool generously tweeted a congratulatory note after Wonder Woman passed up Deadpool, which posted a domestic total of $363.1 million in early 2016. Reynolds' is among many who are happy to sing Wonder Woman's praises. "When critics and audiences are on the same page, you can pretty much bet the box office will be supercharged for the long haul," says box-office analyst Jeff Bock. "Wonder Woman is also a vehicle of female empowerment, something we don't regularly see in the superhero genre and that has made it a very unique property this summer." Apparently the phenomenal success of WW make reporter busier than usual, even variety is now joining Forbes.....but variety still has doubt that this movie will hit $400m
  7. Forbes is like Rth, they give out number much more earlier, only they are just serving for WW
  8. https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2017/07/13/wonder-woman-mixes-the-best-elements-of-the-best-superhero-films-into-an-original-stew/#1d7aeefb5a7a Wonder Woman earned $1.26 million yesterday, a drop of 39% from last Wednesday. So it's not going to drop below $1m per day until next Monday at the earliest, but that's a post for next week. The film has now earned $372.558m in 41 days, which is just $1.272m behind Spider-Man's respective (unadjusted) 41-day total. Unless it earned absolutely nothing overseas over the last three days, it should be just over/under $755m worldwide, so it will probably start the weekend by passing The Amazing Spider-Man ($757m) and Maleficent ($758m).

  10. this movie could be a breakout here in malaysia as Ansel Elgort will come to malaysia for promotion tour!!
  11. 93% Average Rating: 8.1/10 Reviews Counted: 113 Fresh: 105 Rotten: 8 I wonder what those 8 critics have seen in their entire life to make them feel this is bad....I do agree that this movie may not be awesome like it claims do some people, but to come to the extent of thumbs-down it??? that's socially unjust!! Recall back what happened for Nolan last entry of batman trilogy(TDKR)? these critic's review could be a piece of life-threatening opinion if apes's fans was extreme like them
  12. the 1st spiderman made more than 5m admission? that must be an jurassic era for CBM in germany...it make ASM looked to be a flop....

Timeless Medley Yakusoku (Promise) (Shochiku) WK2 >Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales defended its #1 position atop the box office in its second weekend, and held particularly well coming off a debut weekend that was assisted by a discount day; it sold 491,737 admissions over its sophomore frame. The fifth Pirates installment will likely continue to play well throughout the month (might even repeat atop the box office for a third weekend), and should still be aiming for a total around ¥7 billion ($60 million+) milestone. >Mary and the Witch's Flower had to settle for a second place, selling 324,294 admissions across 457 screens over the weekend. The film's debut didn't come as close to ¥500 million as early signs indicated, but it's still a fine start if a tad underwhelming. It's very important to remember that this isn't a Studio Ghibi film (even though Studio Ponoc is comprised of former Ghibli employees), yet its opening came in 13% higher than Hiromasa Yonebayashi''s previous film When Marnie Was There. It depends on how the audience reception is after next week (start of Summer Vacation), though legs in general are very strong in July/August, so a total of ¥3.5-4.0 billion ($30-35 million) is doable and certainly nothing to scoff at. >Confessions of a Murderer became Warner Bros.' highest-grossing film of 2017 so far, and has sold over 1.5 million admissions after five weeks in release. >John Wick: Chapter 2 couldn't make the Top 5, but it was also distributed by an independent studio and was playing on just 155 screens. So, taking that into account, I'd say its opening is fairly good. The film sold 76,706 admissions after three days in release.
  15. The pre-sales seem meh, if this masterpiece failed to live up, I wonder if is it GA wish to see? WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE ABS.....
  16. the list of weekend, in which 2 movies or more grossed more than $50m(include some near $50m grosser as it grossed near $50m in a congested weekend) Dec. 25–27, 2009: Avatar $75.6m, Sherlock Holmes $62.3m, alvin and chipmunks $48.9m(close enough to be included) Jun. 19–21, 2015: Jurassic World $106.6m, Inside out $90.4m June 26-28, 2015: Jurassic World $54.5m, Inside out $52.3m Jun. 21–23, 2013: Monster Uni $82.4m, World War Z $66,4m May 25–27, 2007: POTC 3 $114.7m, Shrek 3 $53m June 27-29, 2008: Wall E $63.1m, Wanted $50.9m Nov. 29–Dec. 1, 2013: HG 2 $74.2m, Frozen $67.4m May 28-30, 2004: Shrek 2 $72.2m, The day after Tmr, $68.7m May 10-12, 2013: Iron man 3 $72.5m, the great gatsby $50.1m May 27-29, 2005: Star wars 3 $55.2m, the longest yard $47,6m, madagascar $47.2m(notable mention as number 2 and 3 were close in $50m in 2005) May 15-17, 2015: Pitch perfect 2 $69.2m, Mad Max $45.5m(close enough to be a notable mention) From the list it shows that it's rare to have 2 $50m grosser in a weekend, and even there was, one of them being an animation and another was live action It only happened twice as 2 live action film grossed more than $50m, and this weekend, SMH and Apes could be added into the list. And if it happened, all those 3 pairs will all involve the Robert downey Jr, from @ZeeSoh.
  17. why is it take them a much longer time to have box office number from a newcomers than a movie which are 6 weeks old?

  19. I've noticed some pattern which could suggest that War Apes is quite a polarising film in critic review, wonder woman 92% Average Rating: 7.5/10 Reviews Counted: 317 Fresh: 291 Rotten: 26 SMH 93% Average Rating: 7.6/10 Reviews Counted: 226 Fresh: 210 Rotten: 16 LOGAN 93% Average Rating: 7.9/10 Reviews Counted: 301 Fresh: 279 Rotten: 22 WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES 93% Average Rating: 8.2/10 Reviews Counted: 90 Fresh: 84 Rotten: 6 Four of those blockbuster scored about 92%-93% in their aggregate score, but apes has the highest average rating of 8.2 among 4, compared to 7.5 and 7.6 from WW and SMH,which could mean that the critic who doesn't like apes, are really dislike it and give it very low mark....or could be for WW and SMH, those critics who liked it, don't really give an extreme high of rating
  20. terrible movie viewing experience from SMH that I must shared, my theater just show POTC5 instead of SMH in SMH showing. The opening sequence of Disney logo making me confused as I know that even in marvel movies , Disney logo doesn't appear, but why is it a disney logo came out for spiderman? I was thinking, "Disney nailed it!", then the shot turns to a kid, try to reach out in the bottom of the sea for something, I was like, is it another back story for how peter parker's father? and why was the colour of the frame looked so different from what I saw in SMH trailer? The style just doesn't look legit. Then here come this line, " Jack Sparrow!!!" I was like, what the fuck? cross-universe elements?? marvel extended cinematic universe??? Then a few of people walked out from room, try to reach out manager or crew to fix this mess up. At least i saw the opening part of POTC5......
  21. If homecoming managed to drop to above $50m while apes could make to open to $65m or more, this will be a very rare occasion that two live action gross more than $50m in one weekend, hardly find any others pair of live action film that both gross more than $50m in one weekend
  22. Moeday is a day that just occurred every once 4 years, that means homecoming will have an extend day(8 days) before apes hit the theater on friday
  23. In my opinion, the latest spiderman by tom holland, is another proof that we are in the era of physical masculinity. The previous 2 spiderman doesn't need to be too muscular, same goes to the superhero character on screen in 1980 and 1990, at least they won't emphasise on great chest, or abs that much. But since then, cap america, thor, antman, batman and etc, their muscular or near perfect physical figure become essential, even for a spiderman that just 15 years old in the homecoming.... At least Iron man still immune of this craze~ Correct me if I wrong, this was what I observed in recent CBM culture
  24. Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming nabbed $12.3M yesterday, and while the Monday records in July are a challenge to climb given how they’ve been propped by the Independence Day holiday, that’s a notable number. Given how it’s largely a discount ticket day at cinemas throughout the country, today should be even bigger for Homecoming. Through four days at the domestic B.O., the Jon Watts movie counts $129.3M. Last Monday on July 3 Universal/Illumination’s Despicable Me 3 made $13.9M juiced by holiday traffic, while Homecoming is one of the sixth best Mondays for the month not boosted by the Independence day stretch after Warner Bros.’ Dark Knight ($24.5M), Dark Knight Rises ($19.4M), Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest ($18.1), WB’s Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($18M), and Uni/Illumination’s Minions ($12.9M). Among all superhero movies playing on a Monday in July, Homecoming ranks behind Spider-Man 2 ($27.7M on July 5), Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises, and Superman Returns ($12.99M on July 3). Heading into its second weekend against 20th Century Fox’s War for The Planet of the Apes, Homecoming is expected to ease 55%-57% for $50M-$53M; an average decline for a superhero tentpole that has opened strongly. Tracking currently has Apes notching a No. 1 rank in the high $50Ms to low $60Ms. Given the glowing reviews for Apes at 92% fresh –many say it’s the best title in the trilogy– it won’t be a surprise if the Matt Reeves-directed title beats those estimates. 58% drop from sunday, typical summer blockbuster hold, indicating that legs wont be bad
