  1. again, forbes did it again!! I think they have a special department that just set up to write something about WW everdays!!!! -72% drop from last monday!! Flop!! Failure!! Stop Wonder WOman 2!!!
  2. 14m admission?? It would be 25% of SK population!! I think if 10m admission, but all see the film in 3D or IMAX could make that easier to achieve..... $100m could be meaningful in the eyes of hollywood studio, I'm still remember how shocked was I when avatar break $100m in SK when $50m was already a rare case, totally mind blown!!
  3. No, malaysia cinema don't track number of tickets, they even think that revealing box office number is commercially harmful......they only release weekend rank in local newspaer or website or certain press release or report article will being released if major milestone is achieved, like when FF7 became the highest grossing film of all time. I just heard the news, the stars of ‘Baby Driver’ are coming to Malaysia!! both Ansel Elgort and Lily James! they come for promoting baby driver! Thank for wish!
  4. just coming out from late-night showing, I was so shocked and pissed off there is no IMAX, not even normal 3D are screened here in this country!!!! It's such a humiliation for these oscar worthy's visual effect!!! I must say, it's hard to make a sequel better than its predecessor, it's nearly impossible to make a 3rd entry be better than the 2nd while 2nd itself was already better than 1st!!! I told my friend who like dawn, go ahead and rise their expectation!! there's no way this movie is going to disappoint you, because it didn't let me down even after I was hyped up by RT. Watch 3D or IMAX if you can, I beg you all, for compensating my regret of being unable to watch it in 3D or IMAX.....
  5. Same goes to Avatar but lesser extent, Avatar was released in the era where many cinema wasn't even equipped with 3D, digital projector or IMAX It wasn't just need to deal with market taste, but market capability.......
  6. In term of gross, I'm more curious about what hollywood movie could be the 1st $100mUSD grosser since Avatar? I dont suppose SMH could do it, but any chance for Dunkirk(given how interstellar performed here) and other Marvel's movie?
  7. https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2017/07/10/wonder-woman-box-office-nevertheless-she-persisted/#121a31a13f62 'Wonder Woman' Box Office: Nevertheless, She Persisted WW box office is persisted as the forbes author, he just keeping throwing WW at us DAILY!!!
  8. 2016-Spotlight 2017-Moonlight 2018- Twilight!!! Liongate reboot!!!!
  9. Based on my tracking for malaysia: just the timeline of highest grossing film 1993-1996: Jurassic Park 1996-1997: Independence Day 1997-2007: Titanic(1st movie to break RM10m) May 2007-Spiderman 3 July 2007: Transformers 1 July 2009: Transformers 2(1st movie to break RM20m) Nov 2009: 2012 March 2010: Avatar(Only 13 3D screens across the country, no IMAX available at the time) July 2011: Transformers 3(1st to break RM30m) May 2012: The Avengers May 2013: Iron man 3(1st to break RM40m) August 2014: Transformers 4 Apr 2015 to date: Furious 7(Approaching RM60m but failed to reach that milestone, about $16mUSD) Malaysia is a small market, but hollywood production is a universal alike here, we were born to watch hollywood movies.....hope one day hollywood studio could realise our existence and have a premiere here!
  10. I've feeling about that is because of potential of SMH, it's 3rd launch in just 16 years and no sign of fatigue in OS or domestically, if it's so resilient, showing popularity in everywhere, any chance of $1b shouldn't be ruled out....
  11. most likely, I suppose not even a single movie reached half of the TFA since TFA grabbed $9m admissions 2015 was the mega-giant year for german box office, spectre , TFA , minions and local blockbuster Fack 2 are all delivered insane number and many more I thought 2015 could be the most craziest year for german cinema since 2001 when 3 movie grossed more than 10m admissions on that year
  12. not to offend anyone in term of religion, but marvel vs dc was kind of looks like Christianity and Islam in cinematic universe.... Both are hugely influential, great numbers of die-hard followers, and etc, both are actually originated from comic book(bible or Al-quran are book too), and feature God-like superhero!! I watch almost every single CBM movie since the 1st SM on big screen, and I think i have the right to give my thought. Marvel- Without reading any review or trailer, I knew what "service" i could get from the movie, and they never disappoint me but neither surprise me(except for Winter Solider), kind of like enjoyable formulated movie to me DC- they disappoint me more often , especially that two(I dont need to mention what are they), but I must say, their movies sometimes are more thought-provoking, and made me wonder how they would look like if they are great. one thing for sure, marvel vs dc is the most "exciting" event in the cinematic universe, especially when come to their box office number, The fun of watching them fighting in box office counter was irreplaceable. Would I get thread banned for this???
  13. POTC was so well-received here in japan, and showing no sign of fatigue, Is it because of one-piece brand making POTC be resonant here? japanese seem like those voyage/swashbuckler film.......
  14. How I wish I could pretend that ASM never existed, solid performance from Andrew but just unnecessary for me....
  15. perhaps what Fox thinking, if Tomato law was so powerful, then we just need to make a great movie! make critic on RT to do the marketing job! then we can reduce our marketing expense!! Could this is why they lift the embargo that early??
  16. When I saw SMH, I know how $100m openers of SMH was so importance for other July-release, fo my showing, as well as my other friend's showing, all audience saw the trailer of dunkirk and apes, when SMH scored $110m++, it suggest that million of people just saw the trailer for both, this is a very huge push and spill over effect from SMH. I wish SMH could pave the way for expected crowded July, making every July wide-release be perform inline or even overperformed with what they deserve. July is known as a massive month, with $1.3b gross in average for each year, only 2014's figure fall short of $1b, and that's terribly bad as it's extremely rare to see july dip below $1b. If July performed "normally", then it should be have enough room for 3-4 tentpoles release
  17. if this movie have more than $120m in domestic market, it could still justify a sequel, but now, given how bad it perform domestically, the whole plan for Universal is just messed up I find a similarities in this movie and Pacific Rim.....both made more than $400m while underperform in domestic
  18. Japan Box Office: Weekend Estimates (07/08-09) Weekend Estimates (07/08-09) 01 (01) ¥712,000,000 ($6.3 million), -32%, ¥2,550,000,000 ($22.6 million), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (Disney) WK2 02 (---) ¥425,000,000 ($3.7 million), 0, ¥425,000,000 ($3.7 million), Mary and the Witch's Flower (Toho) NEW 03 (02) ¥247,000,000 ($2.2 million), -49%, ¥1,000,000,000 ($8.9 million), Shinobi's Country (Toho) WK2 04 (03) ¥118,000,000 ($$1.0 million)), -28%, ¥400,000,000 ($3.5 million), I Have Difficulty Being Loved Too Much (Shochiku) WK2 05 (04) ¥102,000,000 ($895,000), -38%, ¥2,025,000,000 ($18.1 million), Confessions of a Murderer (Warner Bros.) WK5 06 (---) ¥75,000,000 ($660,000), 0, ¥105,000,000 ($920,000), John Wick: Chapter 2 (Pony Canyon) NEW 07 (07) ¥57,000,000 ($500,000), -35%, ¥175,000,000 ($1.5 million), Anpanman: Buruburu's Big Treasure Hunt Adventure! (Tokyo Theaters) WK2 08 (05) ¥55,000,000 ($480,000), -48%, ¥12,200,000,000 ($108.2 million), Beauty and the Beast (Disney) WK12 09 (06) ¥54,000,000 ($475,000), -46%, ¥2,000,000,000 ($17.7 million), Hirugao: Love Affairs in the Afternoon (Toho) WK5 10 (08) ¥44,000,000 ($385,000), -37%, ¥150,000,000 ($1.3 million), Free! Timeless Medley Yakusoku (Promise) (Shochiku) WK2 >Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales defended its #1 position atop the box office in its second weekend, and held particularly well coming off a debut weekend that was assisted by a discount day. The fifth Pirates installment will likely continue to play well throughout the month (might even repeat atop the box office for a third weekend), and should still be aiming for a total around ¥7 billion ($60 million+) milestone. >Mary and the Witch's Flower had to settle for a second place debut and didn't come as close to ¥500 million as Saturday suggested (thanks to a minimal Sunday increase). The opening may be slightly underwhelming, but it's important to remember that this isn't a Studio Ghibi film (even though Studio Ponoc is comprised of former Ghibli employees) and it's still higher than Hiromasa Yonebayashi''s previous film When Marnie Was There by about 12% based on estimates. It depends on how the audience reception is after next week (start of Summer Vacation), though legs in general are very strong in July/August, so a total of ¥4 billion ($35 million) is doable and certainly nothing to scoff at. As per corpse
  19. The weather factor seems to be a big factor here in Uk or europe, I don't really see people talk about weather in domestic thread, but those news reporting about box office or thread often cite weather in their analysis. Is there a movie-going habit different across continent? If so, I wish more rainy days to come so that it drive people into cinema and watch all those well-deserved blockbuster in this july
  20. $10m openers has soon become a norm in mexico in just a few years, it wouldn't be far for mexican to have a first $100m movie i think if ex.rate back to their greenback, like 12:1
  21. Andy serkins, tom holland, christopher nolan; who is the bigger star in UK? I wonder how 3 giant blockbuster could co-exist here as UK is looked to be the primary OS market for all those 3 movies...
  22. @kayumanggi I'm impressed by your dedication on updating the international gross for each movie, eventhough they are flopping and was a huge failure, and may not have people even cares about them after 2 months....
  23. given 4 movies in the franchise, 3 of them would approaching $1b or more than $1b, i wonder if this could be the most commercially success animated franchise in movie history? more than shrek? more than TS? bigger than Ice aGE?
  24. I have a strong feeling that this could be the 1st billion spider man movie....
  25. I guess ex.rate has severely impacted brazilian dollar gross, I wonder if the huge depreciate in real did impact local inflation? I mean, is ticket price on rise over the course of last 2 years? when real started to drop....
