  1. where can they go with this in future installments now that the main event (Creed Jr vs Drago Jr) has happened?
  2. that's why low budget protects Spiderverse and assures sequels and spin-offs assuming they keep it low too (doubtful Spider-Women will do better OS).
  3. Spiderverse doesn't have much to worry about cause that 90M budget will be easy to recoup even with middling OS performance. it needs 225M (90M x 2.5) to break even and that'll happen with holiday legs. It'll likely make 200M dom alone and OS will amount to at least 100M when all is said and done. This is just my pessimistic scenario.
  4. Toldja, the movie isn't faithful to the source so fans rejected it and changes made to attract GA (pretty-fying the heroine) failed miserably. When there's no fanbase to pull it through if GA doesn't show up the whole thing crumbles. It's very rare that GA embraces something that fandom entirely rejects.
  5. Racist China Talk started when they minimized the head of the future boxoffice poison John Boyega on TFA poster. They simply didn't like him and that somehow became "they hate the race" rather than "they hate the actor". But when you look at their other promo material you'll see that they never minimize actors on any account and they even made a standee out of Thorki fan art. Anyway, for comparison: as you can see, all actors retain the same proportion they have on American posters. No minimizing, maximizing, etc. They simply had a problem with one actor because it's him as an individual and he proved to be a boxoffice poison in all markets and poor toy seller. The spin that it's somehow a racial bias does not hold considering evidence to the contrary. They simply smelled a future boxoffice poison and marked him down.
  6. I've no doubt that Spiderverse will hit 50M or close so my biggest interest this weekend is the size of MEga bomb.
  7. POTC is original to OS but it's a known theme park ride in US. But yes, somewhat original it is.
  8. why? Parker is dorky. Miles has style. Also, Miles is 13 and looks it. Parker is 18 or so and looks 12 (in Holland version).
  9. and Avatar. There's always climate if you create great characters. many lesser known or unknown properties basically work as new properties. GOTG for example. Marvel brand helps but as with other lesser known properties from the same brand, result is not the same. GOTG is far more popular than Strange and Antman/Wasp, arguably 2 lesser known properties but still somewhat more known than GOTG. GA was generally clueless about all but preferred GOTG by a large margin. So create appealing characters and universe and they will come. ME's bland af leads didn't help at all.
  10. It's good that ME can't cut it cause YA is mostly crap and it's good to see it's flopping in movie format. Hopefully Chaos Walking crashes and burns too. What movies need are original franchises. Star wars was an original franchise once. So was F&F, Indiana Jones, etc. They were not based on pre-existing source.
  11. this movie is a unique experience that should be seen on the biggest screen. Cam leak won't hurt it.
  12. it really is good. it has to juggle a number of characters and does so well. they are charming and easy to root for. the villain is sympathetic. there's a big character twist along the way. humor works well with many ROTFL moments. Action is fantastic.
  13. This is great! probably the best sequence of "testing new powers" in SH movies (of movies I've seen). No motion sickness. Amazing animation that doesn't feel like animation. Should have powerful WOM. My sisters are crushing on Miles hard and prefer him to Parker.
  14. I see. that's why I was confused. it looked to me like she applied tan.
  15. Love the poster! isn't the red outfit what high rank priests wear? BTW, is that a male of female?
