  1. Huh... I don't know why I was under the impression Landmark closed all locations. That's good news though. As much of a Cineplex shill as I am, they should not own almost 100% of the market.
  2. Music to my ears! Way to go, Patty. That's the way to do it. Respect.
  3. LOL! What a disaster. Can't wait to see the Monday number. I'm getting so much sick enjoyment out of this.
  4. This is definitely going to continue the recent trend of low-key successful horror releases kicking off the new year. $20M+ opening?
  5. Yeah that seems pretty on point. Really hoping it stays over $20M though.
  6. Yikes. It's not a disaster but what an.....underwhelming lead-up this film is having. Not too long ago I thought this would pick up where the last one left off in terms of popularity and we'd see something like a $65-70 million opening weekend, with much shorter legs of course (but still strong because it's Christmas). Maybe I was totally off base but a $50M opening would have even seemed expected. This could very well open below the first one's opening, even though that one opened on a Wednesday so the 3-day weekend was depressed.
  7. In fairness, yes there are two. So this is partially my own fault. I'm a 100% Scene card user which means I only go to Cineplex. Actually, I just checked and in my defense the Landmark theatre there is no more (which isn't surprising, given Landmark went out of business in Canada, did it not?). The only other theatre is the old Paramount theatre, which is a specialty theatre which plays older movies. So yep, it's just the Aberdeen Mall Cineplex for me. The theatre in Kelowna is even worse.
  8. Not at all. I can think of way worse, but we won't discuss it here.
  9. Yeah that's a pretty good stab at the multi. I was thinking 11-12x multi. Where does it look like the previews will land?
  10. Thanks! I'm taking the opportunity to see as many movies as possible given all the options here. Once I'm back in Merritt, party's over. Only Jumanji and Star Wars are on the docket over the holidays + Richard Jewell and Bombshell IF the Kamloops theater gets them.
  11. Yeah they probably want the trailer to be a big talking point in January. The mini-event of January if you will.
  12. With Jumanji - a family movie - coming next weekend, I'm not entirely sold on a 200+ percent Friday increase for F2. If it couldn't do it this past Friday than definitely not next weekend. Ralph Breaks the Internet increased 188% on the same Friday last year (December 14). I'm setting my sights on around that number to avoid disappointment.
  13. Hmm, I was contemplating Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as a possible comp for this but that film had a 10.1x multi off 3.5M previews. Have to think this won't be as frontloaded as that. Or maybe it will. We'll see.
  14. Still can't decide if this is going to bomb hard or just do alright. I definitely know it's not going to be a hit. I'd be shocked. I compared it to Welcome to Marwen awhile ago but I'm thinking that's way too extreme. There's at least a hook for this (famous musical, Taylor Swift, good cast in general etc.) whereas....nobody knew wtf Marwen even was.
  15. There probably just is not enough traction for this to justify it. Universal and Blumhouse will get whatever they can from it on opening weekend and the following days until Christmas and walk away content, given they'll probably still make a profit.
