  1. I’ll laugh if Face the Music or Mulan get nominated for Best Picture.
  2. The fact that we’re getting a sequel (or prequel?) to that crappy 2019 film isn’t surprising, but they’re seriously getting Barry Jenkins to direct it? What’s next? Is Damien Chazelle going to direct the sequel to that 2017 Beauty and the Beast film that no one remembers?
  3. Death threats are never justified, regardless of what Rowling said or how rich she is. It’s one thing to call a person out for their views, but threatening that person’s life does no favors to the trans community. If anything, that will not only fuel the victim mentality from people like Rowling, but it also makes anti-trans groups feel as though their beliefs about trans advocates and “SJWs” are being validated.
  4. I guess while we’re on the subject of the J.K. Rowling controversy, I’ve been seeing more articles from people who’ve read her latest book, who have said that the controversy over it was indeed overblown, and that the book is not in fact about a transvestite or transgender serial killer. https://www.rt.com/op-ed/501668-rowling-abuse-novel-transgender/
  5. If they only stuck to giving Henry Cavill supporting roles moving forward, I’m worried they’d just fall back on the tired trope of an evil Superman. I facepalmed when I saw the teaser for that Suicide Squad game.
  6. Somehow I seriously doubt that WB turned down McQuarrie’s pitch because it went against Snyder’s vision.
  7. It’s actually somewhat surprising to see how popular Henry Cavill appears to be these days. When he was playing Superman, people kept going on about how he was a bad actor who had zero charisma, but now he’s able to get himself trending when he so much as sneezes?
  8. The Batman looks like an October movie if I’ve ever seen one, and as long as the next Spider-Man movie stays there, there’s no way it’ll move to December. On that note, this looks like a movie that would fit well in December, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that doesn’t stick either.
  9. When I got the notification for this thread, I initially assumed that this movie must’ve been pushed back yet again.
  10. The idea that WB would rather make a Superman show for the CW than a new Superman movie is somewhat annoying to think about. We can’t even at least get an HBO Max show? We have to settle for the CW of all things?
  11. 2020 is officially the first year since 2009 with no new MCU movie.
  12. I don’t even know who would be ideal to direct a Superman movie at this point, but it definitely shouldn’t be Snyder.
  13. I’ve mostly read Spider-Man comics, but I always thought that the multiverse simply referred to parallel “Earths“, with the main Marvel comic continuity being designated as Earth-616. If I was wrong on that, then fair enough. Also, for the record, I was referring specifically to the MCU when I mentioned Marvel films that tackled the multiverse, so I didn’t count ITSV.
  14. Historically, as far as Marvel and DC are concerned, the multiverse does not parallel timelines. Tom Cruise playing an alternate version of Tony Stark would not be the result of time travel.
  15. Creating alternate realities by traveling to the past isn’t really the same thing as dealing with the multiverse, is it?
  16. They do use time travel. The time travel just works differently than it does in something like Back to the Future. They create alternate realities when they travel to the past, but those realities are variations of the same universe.
  17. The first DS film is the one that hints at the multiverse. EG doesn’t really hint at such a thing. It just has time travel.
  18. I wonder if Sony would allow them to bring back Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man for this. Come to think of it, would they even need permission from Sony to do that to begin with?
